The animal that has creeped me out since I was a kid, gross slimy, layers of teeth all around the disgusting open mouth... A lamprey eel. I saw a picture of one, with its mouth open when I was really young and it gave me nightmares and still repulses me when I think of it. And WHY do I still see that nasty thing and dread ever running into one. As dry as Albuquerque is, I'm sure they are all over town, waiting...

For the first several years I had terrible bone pain in the arm that was most affected - I always imagined some kind of vermin gnawing away. Thankfully that pain is mostly gone although I will be twinges if I really overdo. Now ten years in I think it's more like a polar bear - it loves cold weather, has sharp claws, can strike me down with one blow, and I've learned not to provoke it.
