My rsd started in my right wrist and is always cold now. It has spread to all my limbs, but only feel cold there and in my right foot sometimes. I do get mirrored burning and swelling in my left hand and my left foot. I don't undersand it either. It just a weird disease that makes no sense to me and seems to affect everyone differently.

Yes, I have this problem. I get nerve blocks about every 2 weeks to control my RSD. My Pain Mgt. Dr. always takes the temperature of my good arm and the RSD arm before each nerve block. The difference is between 5 - as much as 11 degrees. Then after the nerve block it is usually only 1 -2 degrees difference. She described in medical terms why this is (over my head) but basically it involves circulation and how nerve condution in the brain controls this.

I had eight nerve blocks (one a week) the first year I had rsd. I was scared too because of the needle in my neck, so the nurse suggested having me put under while they did it. That's what I did. They put me under and I woke up I think about 1/2 hour later. The only thing I didn't like was the trouble I had swallowing after the nerveblocks and the funny sounding cough I had afterwards.I sounded like the croup. It lasted about an hour and then wore off, and my husband would get me a milkshake afterwards because I could eat. It was hard to swallow, but I was hungry because I had to fast the night before I got the anesthesia. I fellt a litte pain relief with the nerveblcoks and wetn dirctly to pt afterfward to try to get my wrist to bend, but it didn't help. It did help a little with the appearance of my hand and wrist more than getting movement back and it only helped the pain temporarily. If you decide to be put under, make sure your insurance covers it. Mine did for 6 blocks with anesthesia and then cut me off. And then my pm dr was kind enough to cover the last two. He wanted to try a few more times to try to help. After that I had to stop because I couldn't afford it, though I don't think it helped that much anyway. Good luck and I hope it helps you. Everyone's different so you may have better results.
