This is a frustrating and almost unbelievable situation, So trying to spill this out in a nutshell. We moved into a new house on 10/05/13 and have recently found out our weird creepy psycho neighbor had a key. He had been coming over and visiting out landlord as he was getting the place ready for us and took a spare key.
I found the bulk of my pain meds missing, filed a police report along with the other things file against this weirdo. I just started seeing a new doctor who seems really great. He a neuro/phsyatrist and is revamping my medications as the current pain meds I'm on are starting not to work. I have never ran out of medications early or had them stolen. Even with the police report they wont refill them early. Saying it's their office policy. I asked if there was something they could prescribe me in the mean time they said no. They did say "if i can;t handle the pain" to go to the ER or Urgent care???

I said that is ridiculous. Now I'm afraid of going through withdrawals as med prescription will not refill until 11/20. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?


p.s. I forgot to add we found this weirdo was entering our house while we were not there, hence the stolen meds... Sooo creepy. The locks have been changed now!

Not sure what I can add or advise, but do you have a primary care doctor who can prescribe something? My PCP prescribes all my meds. The last place I ever want to go is the ER. I think it is crazy that they recommend you go there vs. them managing your care and meds. Also, I can't believe they will not prescribe you something with having the police report. Did you speak directly to the doctor or just the wolf hounds that answer the phone? I have found that talking to the doctor directly gets much more accomplished.

THe nurse was talking to the doctor while I was on the phone too. I guess it has to do with their "office policy". I told them nicely, that I had never ran out early before or had these kinds of issues , EVER!. And they just said they can't do anything. Grr. It's like nothing can go right for me at this moment/ Not only has my privacy and security been invaded but now I have to suffer ever MORE injustice because of this looney!

Hate creepy neighbors, you have a right to feel angry, come into your house? No excuse for that. The issue with your medication is lousy. It isn't humane. I would go to the ER, and let them address your pain. Don't suffer. Bring your records and documentation of the police visit. I can't believe they would not help you. It may have been more an issue with a physician that "can't" go over the amount prescribed because of the laws getting tighter. Also the places we get the meds. filled, sometimes won't fill them for the same reasons. The controls are tighter.
I do understand what you are going through if you are taken off a medication. Head for the ER if you have to, don't suffer. I will keep you in my thoughts. Ginnie

That really stinks!! When it rains it pours, right!?! These "new" office drug policies are ridiculous. They can probably help you, but are scared to!

I am sure that having this person you don't even know in your own personal space really gives you the creeps and feeling so violated.

Before I got married, I lived in an apartment (in another city) and I came home to find someone had been in there. I never noticed anything missing, but someone had been there as things were not as they were left. I ended up moving into another apartment and someone came in there in the middle of the night...soooo creepy and scary!!

Anyway, I sure hope things calm down for you soon.

I would definitely go to the er, but office policy you would think would make an exception if some psycho comes in and takes them. I had mine stolen once, but it was a family member. Luckily, I had a few extras. I hope things work out!

I have been treated that way by Doctors offices and it feels so frustrating, humiliating, helpless and angry all at once. The E.R. can be very expensive - I don't know about your insurance. Maybe try to make an appt. for an office visit (make something up) and get a one on one with the Dr.? Just an idea.

So glad you had the locks changed, but how creepy indeed !!

My insur will cover everything, but I HATE the ER. Especially sine with my CRPS they know it's not "life threatening" and I wait for HOURS! I suppose I shouldn't complain about that but it seems ridiculous that I've even been put into this position....

Hi Songbird, I would go to your gp and explain the situation. Being that it's never happened before, I would think he would help. If not, you may want to find a new pm dr. That doesn't seem right. I don't think that they are allowed to let you go through withdrawl and they can always take your urine sample to make sure you are not exceeding your medication limits. I have to make sure my doors are always locked and don't tell my neighbors what I take because some people like to steal meds like percocet and xanax so that they can sell them on the street. l I hope you can get help soon. So sorry Songbird, that is downright weird, creepy, wrong.....ugh, all those things. Well done getting the police report filed quickly.

I agree with Renee, make an urgent appointment with your GP and sit in his office until he gives you something. Given this has never happened before, and the police report, he can have no excuse for not being reasonable. This is not a normal situation, and clearly way out of your control, and he can't expect you to make it through for so long without meds.
