Help Life is stressful enough...

... why must we be shooting at each other?

Today, once again, right in our backyard, another shooting. Another school shooting. Our schools are on lock down. What's it going to take to make this stop?! I am literally frightened on a regular basis for my children to go to school or catch a movie. <sigh>

Oh Vrae I'm so shocked and sad for you, that must be terrifying I'm not surprised you're so scared for your children, I can't imagine how it feels to have that kind of thing right on your door...

I hope you are all ok and that things in your neighbourhood cool down quickly. Stay safe xx

Default Hi Vrae

I honestly don't understand what is happening with all these shootings. I grieve with you and for your community. It makes me sad and mad that our country is having this issue at all. No community should have to face that in this day and age. Surely someone someplace can come up with a reason and try to address the issue. ginnie

I don't know what I would do if it happened so close to me.

When I was in grade school (grad 1990) that was never even thought of. It should never happen. I think people aren't raising there children the way they should be. It's sad but they need to put metal detectors in every school. Public and Private. I would home school my kids (if I had any).

Kids should never have to worry about their safety at school. So Sad!!!

Default Hi heatherg

You are right, when I was a kid too, that kind of thing never came to my thoughts.. Life was simple, and violence far away. I never expected to grow up and find the sorrow there is. We were innocent. Kids today, don't get that, and it is sad. Parents have to answers their kids hard questions, and believe me they do ask. I teach kids art, and you would be surprised what they say. Way more in tune to what is going on in the world than I ever was. ginnie

Hi Vrae. I am so sorry this has happened near you. It is truly terrifying. I am not a politically active person but I have seen too much gun violence in our country and cannot stand by and watch anymore. I now support the work of Gabby Gifford's group called "Americans for Responsible Solutions". IF you are interested, check out their website. I will probably get dinged by the moderators for being politically incorrect, but I cannot watch our children being terrorized any longer! Everybody - hug your loved ones tight tonight.

The world may indeed have some issues, but right here on NT is a gift to all of us. It is where kindness and education are, and a place to feel safe. ginnie
