Hey. I was wondering if anyone else living with RSD has a hyper sensitivity to their own hair on the afflicted limb? In my case I have has RSD for 8 years now in my right leg and about 6 months in my left as well. I can feel all my hair follicles on now both leg when my RSD is having an episode and I have to decide if it hurts bad enough to go through the pain of shaving it or wait until the pain of it just being there gets worse. I was wondering if anyone else feels this way and what they do about it. I was considering looking into laser hair removal at home (the no no or something like that) but I'm not sure if it will be more pain than gain. If anyone has more insight on this please share! Tonight I made the wrong decision and shaved my legs and they have been screaming ever since. Thank you for any advice or information.

If it is the hair itself that is causing you pain then I would probably go with the no no or Nair (a shave free hair removal cream)...do they still make Nair? I don't even know...it's been a long time since I had to shave my legs as I don't have hardly any hair growing on my RSD leg and not much on my other leg so I usually just leave it be. But that's what I would probably go with first and see if it really helps. The no no seems like it would be a good long term solution...but I would check with a doctor first just to make sure there aren't any risks with it.

I have RSD in my left leg, but haven't ever experienced the hair or hair follicles actually hurting me. I went thru a period like catra mentions about not having much hair, but now I have a lot if it, especially on my face (nice huh!)...I have RSD also in my face. Was thinking about trying that no no device. Also, catra is right, you should check with the dr too to make sure there are no risks.
Hope you get some relief. Nanc ![]() |
