I've been there. Desensitization therapy was one of the best things for me...it got me able to wear regular clothes again. I'm still very sensitive...but can tolerate loose, soft tops now that I couldn't before. That can make all the difference when needing to leave the house during the winter.
I also make frequent use of heating patches, hand warmers, and toe warmers to keep me warm when I have to go outside...mostly because I can't layer up with as many layers as I used to...so using the heating patches is necessary when those temps get down below zero when I need to go outside (which I have to do to get to work). I hated being trapped in the house (winter or summer) when I couldn't walk or stand at all. It was so frustrating feeling like I was trapped on my couch...so difficult to keep from losing my mind. |

Yep, I can totally relate! Both my legs are fully engulfed with this stupid CRPS and even the slightest cool breeze is unbearable. I've found some amazing fabrics through Athleta that work much better on the sensitivity issues that also do well for blocking out much of the air. My best friend is a down filled jacket made by Patagonia for my upper body now.. if I could only find pants that work that well and don't increase pain from the tactile stimulation. Such a daily struggle! I am sorry you are also experiencing this, it sucks!

Yes, totally. Caged is exactly how it feels. And I'm fed up with wearing all these clothes indoors because I can't bear any cold or draughts....it's ridiculous. I see the sun and want to go out in it

Indeed. It's been bitterly cold in Minnesota with the best snow cover for winter sports in years. I look outside at the fresh fluffy snow and I'd love to go sledding or snow shoeing or skiing or even have a snow fight and . . . nuh uh. Even standing close to a well insulated window creates enough cold to cause pain and suffering.
Yesterday I wore a wide silver bracelet on my unaffected wrist at work. The slight temperature difference between my bracelet and my skin was enough to cause aching down to my bone, severe cold-burn and pain from my elbow to my palm. I took it off in the late afternoon yesterday and the bone ache, cold-burn, etc, etc, etc, is even worse today. GRRRRRR!! |
