Ever since ive been diagnosed with rsd my teeth have gone bad. I am still fighting workers comp for a settlement. I cant work right now and need my teeth fixed. Has anyone found a way to have insurance or workers comp help pay for dental Implants? being 25 I dont want dentures I have enough self esteem issues!

I also had crps since 2012 I had good relationship with my dentist for about 15 or 16 years now,since crps the treatment had change,regular cleanings now requires anesthesia because she warns to avoid extra pain and trauma to my nerves she explains me that they are some doctors who wouldn't care about any other medical issue,she had to ask for a medical clearance from my surgeon after 4 month from previous surgeries to make sure she won't cause any nerve alteration or extra pain,she did a research on the condition to found a better way to approach any dental treatment and yes dr just care about money they don't care if you had a possible future medical problem,you need to found a real honest dentist,is hard but they are many who do care,now wc don't pay unless your original injury is related to that specific area I also has wc case and had nerve and tissue damage in the opposite leg of my original injury and was as a result of a surgery that will stop the pain on my right foot and ankle but at the end got worst and they did reposition my batery from scs to abdomen but the damage is there and no one respond for that,be careful,many dentist only see the money opportunity I understand your young I can't even image how hard it is with my condition my physical look changes too but you will feel worst if they made a mistake and you end up with bell palsy or face paralysis or something worst,be careful do research on medical treatment first learn the do's and dont's with rsd/crps and don't give up have faith,we all here for the same reason,we are alone,confuse and had not enough information reliable soon you will get something that's help but please don't jump into the freeway without knowing how to drive,takes times,hope you good luck we all here for you and blessing ,wish you a week free of pain and stress and do your research ,listen to all kind of suggestions and trust no body unless you are 100% sure they are been real honest and don't harm you more, blessing also go to rsds.org they have good articles and info regarding dentist is a good start

I am sorry that on top of everything you are having problems with your teeth. It is common to have additional problems in this area especially if medications are making your mouth dry. If that is the case please talk to your pharmacist and/or doctor about saliva products that can help prevent the problem from getting worse.

Getting an insurance company to pay for dental implants is going to be a challenge, sorry. First thing that you would need to do is address your problems with your primary CRPS treating doctor (the one that is most knowledgeable) so that this information is entered into your medical record. They would need to link your teeth issues to CRPS. I would also contact your WC attorney who can better guide you as it might only be possible to have this covered through settlement.

Dental implants can bring on a whole new set of problems especially at your young age. Please be sure to consult with several well known and qualified dentists to ensure that crowns or something else might not be a better solution. If you are having problems with your gums, daily flossing and mouthwash can make dramatic improvements there even after just a few weeks.

I sure know the feeling, I'm very self concious about my teeth. I've been through the teeth issues before & with
RSD.
Unfortunately Tessa is right, it would take a miracle for insurance to cover
implants. I know it makes no sense b/c they'd never have to pay for issues
in treating those teeth ever again right?
Well, years ago (before RSD) I thought I'd done my homework well enough
& decided to go get 2 implants in Mexico. WRONG!
I'll share that long ordeal in another time if you're interested.
I have a couple good implants now (also before RSD) but it is SURGERY
involving deep jaw bone & very close to nerves. Last thing you need is
to spread it to your face. It's traumatic & usually the implants have to
integrate with the bone for 6 mo. +/- before they can add the abutment
& tooth.
Absolutely, explore getting it covered in settlement, in the meantime
try to find less invasive ways to improve your smile.

It's a struggle to have rsd and Fibromyalgia. Having to fight with w.c. insurance makes it ieven more difficult.
My rsd started because of a work injury in 1997.
The laws have changed recently in the w.c. insurance companies' favor, not the injured party.
I too, lost my beautiful smile due to rsd and medications. I approached my w.c. attorney and w.c.adjustor but was told they wouldn't cover treatment for my teeth.
Hopefully some day the major effect that rsd has on our teeth and health, will be recognized and covered by not only w.c. insurance but also regular dental insurance.

I still have my teeth. Thank goodness. I can't stay I lost teeth due to any kind of treatment.

Which treatment made you lose your teeth? Because I wouldn't want anything to do with that, for sure!
