Hi Renee, Thinking of you and wondering if you had the gallbladder surgery? I have my fingers crossed that they were able to do it laparoscopically and that it went smoothly for you. I was thinking that getting the source of lots of inflammation out of your body might mean an increase in your overall wellness and maybe some brighter days will be ahead for you.

Any kind of surgery in your guts is no fun at all. I know it's going to take a little bit of time but I hope you heal up real quick!

Hi everyone. Thanks so much for caring and thinking of me. I wanted to talk to you yesterday after my surgery, but when I tried to get out of bed my I started to bleed from one of the incisions in my belly button. I freaked out and called the dr and they said that was normal and to go lie down. So I did, but am attempting to move again today. So far no blood, but I am very sore. I had my surgery yesterday morning and the dr and hospital staff were awesome. I woke up with some pain from the air they put in my stomach and from the three laproscopic incisions. They gave me extra percs instead of morphine for extra pain, (I don't handle morphine well) which is only to be taken for a short time while I heal. My pm NP said this was okay when I saw her last Thursday. They hit some scar tissue in my stomach from prior surgeries I've had, so the incision in my belly button is a little larger than the others, but thank goodness they didn't have to cut me open any other way then laproscopically. They took my gallbladder out and the surgery lasted about an hour and a half. They showed me pictures of what was inside of my gallbladder. What was supposed to be a few small gallstones turned out to be what looked like over fifty small gallstones and about 5 large ones. OMG. My gallbladder was filled with stones. The dr said it was good I got it out, because I would have had more serious problems if I didn't. I can't believe that when I had the catscan done last year in the ER for severe abdominal pain and last month that only a few small stones showed up. The ER last year told me that they shouldn't be a problem and probably weren't the cause of my pain. No wonder I was in so much pain with my stomach. I still am very sore from the surgery and will be going to lie back down soon, but I wanted to let you all know that I am doing much better without my gallbladder. I hope it helps calm my stomach and rsd down. I have a sore throat from the tube they put in my throat during surgery and had ice cream to help make it feel better, and I didn't get sick from it! Yahoo! I couldn't eat ice cream prior to surgery, because I got terrible gallbladder attacks. I am soooo happy I can eat ice cream again. I want bacon too, but am going to take it slow for a few weeks. I don't feel any spread from my rsd so far (knock on wood). So far, I'm doing better now then I was prior to surgery. Thanks so much again for caring and for your kind words. I am going to lie back down now and take a nap. My stomach is starting to get sore again so I'm going to try to take it easy for a while. Renee,I'm glad your ok thanks God for that also make sure you take enough rest,I read your post many times so I learned tomorrow is my dr visit he then will decide my date too but I kind a little worry I have my scs battery in my left side of the abdomen,so we will review that area of concern hope everything run smooth as your did,we'll let you go and we keep praying for a fast painless recovery,see you soon my friend.

Hi Eev, Thank you for your caring message. I am glad you are going to your dr tomorrow to decide a date for your surgery. I don't have a scs so I don't know what the dr will say about that and surgery, but I'm sure he can help you and it's good you told him about the scs. I told my dr about the two prior abdominal surgeries I had for endometriosis. The were an oopherectomy and hysterectomy and he said that he may have to work around scar tissue I may have had from those surgeries. He did have to make a bigger incision laproscopically in my belly button because of scar tissue there, and then he had to cut into the muscle there to get to my gallbladder, but stitched it up afterwards. It's a little more sore than the other two incisions which are on my upper right side and just below my rib cage, but it's worth a little more pain if I got this diseased gallbladder out with all it stones. My stomach is very sore and I'm taking extra pain pills for it for a short while, (but NO ADVIL). I am done with that stuff. It really did a number on my stomach. And after I heal from this I am going to cut back on some other meds if I can, like the percocets. Also hard on stomach, even if the drs disagree. My stomach says otherwise. Anyway, even with the pain, it was worth getting the gallbladder out. I believe it not only caused me problems with eating but aggravated my rsd. So if your dr can get yours out (even with your scs) then personally I would say it's well worth it. I already can eat without problems and my rsd so far still has not spread and seems to have calmed down a bit. Just make sure your dr knows of all past surgeries you may have had and of course the scs which he already knows about. I will pray for you eve that you can get this done soon and will heal quickly and feel better. I know it's scary. I was scared too, but with the faith I have in God, the support of my husband and son (who I must say have been very caring throughout this surgery), the support of the drs, nurses and hospital staff and the support of my awesome friends here on this forum, I found the strength to go through with this surgery, despite fear of rsd spread, with the hopes that I will wake up feeling better and healthier. And knock on wood again, so far, I have been feeling better. I know you will too. Just keep the faith my friend and remember that I am always here for you if you want to talk, just like everyone else here always is. If I can figure it out I will try to post some pictures of my stomach and gallbladder after surgery, if it doesn't gross you guys out too much. If it does, I won't. It's very interesting. (I know it's gross, but still intrigues me.) Anyway, as always my thoughts and prayers are with all of you always. I'm going to go back to sleep now. I'm pooped! Love, Renee.
