Hi Joan. Go to the Sketcher's site (you'll have to copy and paste the address below, I can't get it to show up as a link). I love these shoes, there more of a sandal, but the bottoms are like a sneaker, very stable and supportive. They have vented sides and back. What I really love about them is the thin adjustable strap which I adjust as my foot swells throughout the day. Mervyn's has a bigger selection that what I currently see on the Sketcher site.

i wear birks. they are mega expensive, but you can't beat the comfort and they last forever.

I haven't worn them but I know that they make rubbery kind of shoes called crocs. The real ones are like 30 bucks but you can buy some cheaper ones at walmart or something for like 5-10 dollars. They have holes at the top so the air can circulate and they have a back. The part where the foot lays is bumpy I think but you can probably buy those inserts you can put in your shoes so it isn't as rough and irritating.
If not, I was in an ortho boot for awhile. It helped with support and protection and you can adjust it if your foot is more swollen. Hope this helps. |

Hi Joan, I wear a leg brace as well and have tried all sorts of shoes/sneakers. What Has worked best for me are a good pair of regular sneakers with velcro straps. Inside of them I put a pair of the most expensive Dr Scholl inserts that they sell...the ones with the blue gel cushion. They have worked well for me but I'm only able to be on my feet for a half hour at a time due to the rsd pain. It's not expensive and worth a try. Hope it helps...jeannie

My ortho suggested GOOD QUALITY sneakers, not the discount or department store variety. They have different grades for different sales outlets and it makes a difference. I get New Balance, but only at the New Balance store, not at a mass retailer. They go for about $125 instead of the usual $35 - $60. The better construction is worth it.

I too love "crock's" shoes!! they feel like ya have no shoes on. I used to walk around shopping, fairs, etc. and my feet hurt so bad in tenni shoes, and I found a really cheap pair at walMart's (on sale) and I just love them. Also Dr. Scholl's <(Spell check there) are "Great" too. the gel inserts are wonderful as well. hope ya find what is most comfortable for you. Love, Desi

Nothing but SAS shoes for me. They make cute sandals. Pricey but easily the best pair of footwear I have ever had. Lots of cushion yet with an arch.
They come in sandals and walking shoes. Since I have claustrophobic feet I get the sandals. LOL Hugs and Prayers
