Hola Renee. In my experience, there is ALWAYS a connection, even when things seem completely random and unrelated. The human body is like a road map that shows us where and what our stresses are. Most stresses we are not even aware of consciously.
There's an app for the iPhone called "Heal Your Body A-Z" based on the work of Louise Hay. Yes it appears to be new age hippie technobabble - and maybe it is to an extent - but it contains a list of hundreds of physical diseases and ailments, and the mental conditions that cause them. It's a good intro to start putting some pieces together as far as how the mind-body connection really works.
If you don't have an iPhone there are books you can order off amazon pretty cheaply.
