Default Could this be a symptom

I have been having CRPS symptoms for almost a year now ever since I broke my foot. My foot is fully healed and I don't have any mobility problems. My symptoms started off bad with rashes, pain, swelling, skin changes, wrinkling, coldness and burning, I even felt like the broken part of my foot was dislocated. It felt like it didn't belong there. I wanted to rip it off. All these symptoms are common CRPS. My symptoms have gone plateau. I get random burning, coldness, muscle spasms, the rashes and skin changes have ceased. Sometimes I find I have problems sleeping. I am unsure if this is a symptom or if its just me. But recently in the last two months or so I have been getting light headedness. Its only when I get up and start to walk from a lying position. I had my mother check my blood pressure and it was low at this point. Could this be a symptom of CRPS? I looked it up and didn't see low blood pressure anywhere as a symptom. I keep myself hydrated and even over drank to see if it was dehydration, but its not that. Its gotten bad. I will be lying on my couch watching television and I will get up and almost pass out. I feel light headed and my vision goes blurry. I have even grabbed a side table feeling like I am going to pass out. Otherwise I feel healthy. Right after an episode of this, the light headedness passed and I went out to an exercise class and felt fine. I don't know why this is happening to me.

For the symptoms you are experiencing, you should definitely see your family practice doctor for starters.

Whether or not you have CRPS, the symptoms you have may or may not be related but the root cause of them needs to be completely understood and treated if necessary....

Good luck and keep us updated!

Hi AMK, It sounds like some of your symptoms could be rsd related but some not so much. But I'm not a dr so I'm not sure. If I were you I would go see a neurologist who has experience with rsd patients and also see a pm dr who has rsd patients. I would also get a complete physical from your gp along with bloodwork and an EKG. Maybe you have pre diabetes. That would explain your dizziness and blurry vision. Insomnia is a side effect of rsd and so are mobility problems, pain, swelling, skin changes like shiny skin, increased hair and nail growth in the rsd site and a deep aching and burning feeling. The rashes could be from rsd too or from something else like an allergic reaction to something. The fact that you burning, coldness and muscle spasms are random make me wonder if it's rsd because I have at least burning and intense deep aching pain all the time in my rsd site. As for low blood pressure, maybe that has something to do with low blood sugar? I don't know for sure. I know rsd can affect the heart by causing the it to beat faster due to the immflamation it can cause if it goes internal. But I would think your blood pressure would be higher then. I am not a dr so I would start with your gp and then neurologist and pm. I hope you find out what you have soon and that it is not rsd. But if it is, there are treatments that can help you manage your pain better. Take care.

I believe both high and low blood pressure can be related to RSD.

I would still have your doctor check you out. I'd monitor your BP until you can get in and document it for the doctor.

Are you keeping a journal of all your symptoms? If not, it would be a good idea to do this now as it will be helpful for all your treating providers. Listing out symptoms as they appear and what if anything makes them worse or better. Any medications you are taking including OTC's and vitamins. Logging activity, coping strategies and even the weather will not only provide insight for your doctors but, most importantly it will help you to determine any triggers or patterns to your pain.

Blood pressure fluctuations can be caused by CRPS but also many, many other things. If you are fainting or almost fainting this is something you should really bring to your doctors attention. Often this is a transient condition but not something you should just ignore especially if it is happening frequently.

It is not uncommon when someone is faced with an unknown/un-diagnosed medical condition to become ultra aware of your body. Things that would normally go unnoticed now stand out because you body is on the 'lookout' for answers or clues to help determine what is going on. Jotting these things down in a journal should help alleviate anxiety until you are able to see your doctor.

Wishing you the best,
Tessa
