i recenly read a population study called "Complex regional pain syndrome type 1: incidence and prevalence in Olmsted country, a pouplation-based study" by Sandroni.
As this study is from 2002 i'm sure some of you are already aware of its findings. Though i searched the forums and found fairly little discussion on this matter: *edit* Copyright © 2014 Elsevier B.V Of course the above study is like many contervsiale, notable a more recent population study by De Mos "the inidence of CRPS: a pouplation based study" found significintly higer rates of incidence. More directly a letter to the Editor by Bennett "Questions concerning the incidence and prevalence of CRPS" remarked (among many other concerns) that Sandroni doesn't specify what they mean by "mild crps" or "resolution". While the concerns are valid, the population study is still one the only one I have found that address prognosis. Personally, I find the possibility that many cases of CRPS are "resolved" and only a minority develop into sever and chronic cases to be a relief given the focus of much of the literature on the topic. It could explain the sentment by one of my doctors that while he believes i have CRPS yet also believes it will be better in a matter of months. It might also explain why I could recieve such a diagnosis but have such drastically different symptoms and history then many of you, who i assume have drastically worse histories and outcomes. I'm curious if anyone has been able to delve into this topic and these studeis further. Specifically with regards to Bennett's concerns* * I had to purchase the letter to the Editor from Bennett, otherwise all other articals seems to be online.
