Question Neuropsychological Screening?

Hey all -

I have caved and decided to try the Stim implant in my spine. I have been notified by WC that I must first go for a Neuro-psychological screening.

Has anyone had to do this? Why, if I am already seeing a psychologist, would I need to see another one? What are they looking for?

Thanks,

Christine

Hey Pixie,

This is actually a requirement for anyone getting an SCS. They just want to make sure you understand what it entails. It isn't a big deal and I've only heard of one person getting denied because of it.

Don't take it personal it certainly isn't just part of the protocol set forth by the manufacture/insurance companies.

Good luck,
Tessa

Do you know which manufacture you will be getting a device from? I recommend finding out all the details regarding MRI, battery replacement, etc., with your doctor and rep before hand. Right after mine was implanted they came out with one that allows full MRI so this was rather frustrating since an MRI would be helpful for me at times.

Reach out if you have any questions - I'm happy to help ease your mind if I can.

Cheers,
Tessa
