Personally I gave LDN a 6 month chance to work for me, as I so did not want a hip replacement. I never got past .5mg and first day I took that dose I had a wonderful good feeling and it never returned again. But kept trying with it for 6 months for the reason I said. The LDN group kept pushing me to stick with it. It also gave me some horrid constipation which I had to deal with, which I did with extra mag and Vit C.... So good luck whomever works with it...from what I recall the recommended dose is 4.5mg but I never got past .5mg....I could no imagine going higher with what I was experiencing....some did say they could not go higher either. I understand there is a lot of success with it and MS.

Caroline,
You might want to read the information on this link. http://ldn.proboards.com/thread/1530/ldn-constipation One of the posters says that if a person gets constipated after using LDN the cause is yeast. One work around discussed is the use of LDN transdermally, but addressing a yeast problem might be a good idea. I have read that you can go higher, up to 10mgs. I have also read that the higher dose can be divided and taken AM and PM. Where you making the LDN yourself or getting it from a compounding pharmacy? There is information that compounding pharmacies do not always compound the drugs up to full potency-in fact some compounds actually have no potency. I also wonder if the filler used could cause constipation. Please read the information in the link. If the filler is calcium carbonate it can cause constipation and if the pill made with this is packed too tight it can prevent the desired release necessary to allow LDN to work. http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/gaz...DNFillers.html I hope you don't mind that I posted this. I am trying to learn all I can about LDN and why some people have success and others failure, because I intend to do whatever I can to be in the former group. Researching LDN brings up issues. Many are denied access to getting LDN, because their doctors will not prescribe it for them. The ones who can get LDN may or may not be getting the prescribed amount, based on the way the drug is compounded/ filler used. Last edited by BioBased; 07-14-2015 at 06:52 AM. Reason: To add links |

Thanks on the constipation issue, it's been my history but work to keep regular with mag and vit C, aloe vera, fennel, etc....and greens. My mother's side had the constipation issues, so perhaps it's a yeast thing overall, don't know. As for me in my life, the drugs that caused horrid constipation are opiates and LDN. So good luck, I have no desire to try it again.
Years ago, I had heard or read, more laxative products are sold than anything....how true that is I don't know...could it all be yeast? |

A PS on the yeast, we are a country very indulgent in sugars, carbs and I know I was brought up with tons of sugary foods and carbs. The women in the old days loved to bake sweet things and we loved to eat them....mouthful of dental work to prove that too.
So I'm sure it's so much on the constipation issue. Also, keeping hydrated a lot, that was never the "push" in the old days....we drank water when we felt thirsty..... I'm never thirsty and drink water all thru the day now. Living and Learning and working to manage what has been done to our health. |

I love Chia seeds for constipation. I found out about them when I was my mother's caregiver. She had Parkinson's.
My mother put the Chia seeds in her evening yogurt. It was the end of a lifetime of constipation and hemmoroids. She also benefited from the extra protein they provided. Some people mix the Chia with water which forms a gel in about 15 minutes and since Chia is flavorless they mix the gel in drinks, puddings, etc. I mix mine in Kefir, a fermented dairy product which has good bacteria. |
