Matthew has a dentist appointment coming up. Is there anything to be aware of or precautions to take with dental work? I can't imagine an effect on CRPS but want to be sure. Thanks.

I seem to remember something about nitrous being neurotoxic. So no laughing gas. Wouldn't hurt to hit the Vit C extra that day either...

My dentist has posters on his wall about dealing with RSD and Dentistry. That's why I knew I was in the right place. That being said I had 2 dental surgeries last year and assumed the worst would happen but I was totally in the clear. There are things to be aware of and that a good dentist who knows about RSD would probably recommend but I don't know what those things are. My dentist told me when I met him but it was a while ago. I would research the procedures if anything needs to be done?

My daughter has had regular cleanings w/out incident. Also had orthodontics and it did seem that she was unusually uncomfortable after tightenings, etc, but otherwise, it was uneventful for her. She recently had wisdom teeth out. We asked for general anesthesia and she took a narcotic pain killer for a day or 2 after. It was not fun, but I don't think wisdom teeth ever are! She does take 500mg Vitamin C daily as a cheap/safe insurance policy.

They decided to wait on the cleaning because of the hardware in his ankle, they like to start an antibiotic beforehand when hardware has been put in within the last 6-12 months. So my new question is, are there any antibiotics that should be avoided with CRPS?
Thanks! |

About 6 years ago I had 28 teeth remove and dental implants put in. I was already in my 12th year of full body RSD.
My RSD Dr worked w/dentist and devised a plan to do the work. I literally had 2 dentist working on my mouth and they completed the work in less than 45 mins. I had no discomfort the next day no swelling or bruising in fact I was eating grits and eggs for breakfast that next morning. They did an excellent job! |
