It's a good idea to have a massage within a few days if at all possible.
You might want to have something on hand that will be soothing for your throat after the procedure. |

If you have a positive response, one eye will droop and your throat will be sore. It should only be for a day, maybe less? My throat has gotten increasing worse over the years, but I've also been less vigilant about having massages, so...
The worst sensation is it feels like I have to cough, and then it can be hard to catch my breath, but I don't remember this being that big of a deal early on. Having hard candy greatly reduces the issue. Oddly, the last block I had that set my neck off, I didn't have the throat problem until 5 days later. Most docs will put you out with a general, and it's really not that big of a deal. You won't be able to drive with the general for at least a day, but I often felt woozy for a couple of days after. I guess it depends on how you react and the type of anesthesia used. I've had other docs start with a local or just use a local. I've experienced better results when a local was used, because even though there was more pain short term, the results lasted longer. (Some people do well with a series of blocks.) So, at it's worst it's very uncomfortable, but nothing compared to severe RSD pain IMO, and it's unlikely that you'll experience even that since most doc's seem to just use a general. I know everybody's not a fan of these, but they've really helped me knockout spread to new areas several times. Hopefully, you'll have a good experience. I question if I had been diagnosed early enough, could stellate ganglion blocks have put me into remission? I hope you have good results! |

I have rsd in both arms since 1980 started blocks in 1985 when they figured out that I had rsd I'm been getting block done 3 on each side one the right next day do the left some have to go back an get it done 8-9 months, try not to get sedated it is just harder on your body, my Doctor will num up the area up first with a very small needle an then use the block needle with ultra sound to see where he going i have found that this way is a much better way to get them done. I just had my 100th block done an it is the only way I'm still here I pray that they work for you . Jerry if you want an more info let me know.

If you're in too much pain and can't remain still enough, than they'll give you a general. Recovery is easier if you can do without, but it's no big deal if you need something, the line will already be in. I've gone through it all 3 ways.
