Tonight, like many nights, I am awake because of the severe pain I am in. I have full body RSD, so nearly every night it's either particularly bad in one area, or it's just all over bad pain. That's not my point in writing this post this morning though. Every night I am awake because of pain I get on here to read everyone's stories and comments. A couple things. First, we are an AWESOME group of people!! To endure what we do, and keep on keeping on is truly remarkable! The other night my 12 year old son (my kiddos are 8,10,12, and 14) said, "Mom, you don't give yourself enough credit. You're the sweetest person I know, and you still laugh and smile even though you're in the kind of pain most people could never handle." (FYI my three oldest are boys, and my youngest is a girl. Between all of those little hearts and my sweet husband I am almost totally dependent on them for even my BASIC needs.) When my son said that to me I didn't just think about myself. I thought about all of you!! I recently shared this quote on here but it is something I try to remind myself of frequently, "we show others infinite amounts of compassion and kindness, and yet we forget to show ourselves even a portion of that same kindness and compassion." I've been hesitant to write these things because at any given moment I could be on here writing how rotten I feel and need this reminder!

What an awesomely beautiful post to wake up to! Thanks for starting my day on such a nice note.
We ARE amazing. You ARE amazing. This disease has not robbed you of your talent of being a great Mom. Obviously you are doing something right with your kids. What amazing people. I think it interesting you mentioned being grateful to the disease for giving you the opportunity to teach your children about compassion. Just the other day I was reflecting on what I've gone through and the thought popped in my head "What am I going to do with the gift of this pain?" I was unaware of thinking of it that way and don't quite know when or how that came about. But it has taught me much and made me a kinder, more understanding and laid back person. My perspective on what is really important in life is certainly different because of it. There is much to be grateful for. And we do have a great forum... Thanks SS, I am so happy that you are in Good, peaceful waters. And don't worry we'll be here the next time you hit a rocky place. ![]()

When I was younger and got hurt my grandfather used to say that "being in pain was mother earth's way of letting you know that you're alive". I guess We're all alive. lol
SS, your post was great. A good way to look at ourselves and teach others at the same time. If anyone here needs a reason to feel still useful you nailed it. Keep on being positive...
