Confused Some one help.

Hi, I am 18 years old suffering with RSD since I was about 12. I was in pain management rehab thing a few years back and had a few remissions after that. But this newest one is the worst yet. I originally had it in my right foot and it had spread to about my thigh before getting help. But this time I was sleeping and was woken up by the pain and I noticed the pain was in both my legs completly. Aboit a month back I had fallen and bruised my left ankle and the bruise still hasn't gone away along with both legs having the bruising, dry skin, blisters and what not. It is so hard to walk and I am crying due to pain often. If anyone has any tips on what I should do I'd appreciate it so much.

Welcome, sorry for your being here but we are all good, slightly cracked eggs...do you have a good family doctor? Can you return to pain management? What are you able to do now for your pain?

i am so sorry you have rsd jenna but am glad you found this forum. everyone here is great. they have helped me alot with my rsd. i've had it for five years but am alot older then you. if i were you i would find a good pm dr and neurologist and try to find out why you are having all these symptoms and pain. i am not a dr but it sounds like your rsd may have come back and spread and if that is the case then a good pm dr may be able to help you reduce the symptoms, contain the spread and manage you pain. i hope you find some relief soon. soft hugs coming your way.

p.s. in the meantime maybe a warm epsom salt bath or heating pad may help reduce your pain at least a little until you can find a good dr who can help you manage your rsd pain.

Hi and Welcome,

I am glad you found this soft place to land. We all understand how hard this is and offer a great place for compassion and support. I am sorry that you are among our ranks. It always breaks my heart when the young must suffer so.

I second the PM suggestions. It's time to get back on with someone to help you fight this monster back once again. Coming at you in your sleep! That's just not fair. Is nothing sacred?

Your mention of the blisters made me think of Low Dose Naltrexone. Dr. Pradeep Chopra recommends it and has had good luck in lower extremity cases with skin involvement per his case studies. Might be worth a look and is not something heavy to throw at your young system.

Are you taking anti-oxidants? Vit C would be good during this time and some topical lidocaine or Epsom salt cream might be helpful. If walking is difficult, maybe do some stationary bike or get in pool somewhere if you can, aquatherapy and gentle exercise can help so much.

Please let us know what happens and come see us to share, ask questions or get a virtual soft hug.

I am sending some now,

So I'm contacted my specialist that I've had since I got this and he suggest that I go back into pain management for the 4 week inpatient therapy since my rsd always travels fast. He is going to probably giving me more shots in my back (don't exactly remember the name of it )
But thank you all so much for your advice.

Jennareimer,
Just wanted to say welcome and I hope you are able to once again get your symptoms under control. Sometimes it feels better when we are active and at least have a plan or something in the works. I wish you a speedy recovery! ~mac

I am so sorry your pain is worse. Does elevating your legs help with the swelling? Time in a cool bath? Can you get to pool to swish your legs around? Cool water with movement might help.

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that. I am fairly new so there isn't much I can say other than keeping your legs elevated as much as possible and trying a warm bath with Epsom salts. Hope someone else can give some more advice. Warm hugs and hang in there.

I've been keeping it elevated and it still just keeps swelling. I wish so much I could get to a pool that always helped a lot. But sadly any pool near me has closed up already. I've been taking baths to see if it would help and it just hurts terribly once I get out..I just don't know what to do anymore.
