Default Feeling crummy

I try not to complain much because I feel very blessed to be doing as well as I am, but....

I just had bad infusion day. The vein they normally use is scarring so they used another one and it didn't go well and I have a huge bruise that is REALLY sore. It's on the CRPS side of my body so I am feeling paranoid. I put topical lidocaine on there and took some PEApure. Guess I should hit the VIT C too.

Then to top it off, literally, I got sick this time which has never happened. It has taken most of the day to stop feeling so rotten and out of it. I dunno what happened. Maybe my body has had enough or it liked the super slow infusion the doc did last time. Don't know that I feel as curious about doing any extra ones now...

okay enough 'woe is me', I hope everyone has a restorative and peaceful weekend.

Littlepaw, I'm very sorry you've had a bad infusion day.
I hope these feelings pass quickly. I had read your other posts about past infusions and the one where you said the very slow one went quite well. I gather you get a different doctor every time?
Anyway, I just wanted to post to say that I hope your bruise heals fast and you are feeling better tomorrow.

Thanks for the kind words Lara,

I have been the same place with typically with the same nurse each time! Isn't that funny? It has been different every time depending on how fast the ketamine was infused and from changing the versed dose a little. The doctor gave the slow one when the nurse was out. I hope others who get these are able to find the "sweet spot" early on. It does make a difference.

I feel a lot better than this morning already. Thank goodness the tech was quick with the wastebasket and I had followed instructions for nothing to eat or drink after midnight! I think the IV site is the worst and looks like it will take a while to clear. Just so long as my nerves stay happy I'm okay with it!

Hey Little Paw, I'm sorry you're feeling bad, and that so many things went wrong! Sounds so painful and exhausting. I hope you have a peaceful, healing weekend. Hugs

Hey Littlepaw,

My veins are scarred and as resilient as old rubber tubing from the Chemo and years of monthly cannulas in the back of my hands for Infusions. I know how it is when they go searching for a new vein and I feel for you.

I will not bother trying to tell you how to reduce bruising, especially when worrying about CRPS. All I can do is send lots of Air Hugs winging back to you.

Dave.

Thanks! The others haven't been too difficult so I guess 1 out 8 is not bad.
I hope you have peaceful weekend too.

I forgot to mention my secret weapon for bruises. I've always kept them in my medicine cabinet. They are two homeopathic creams bought at any health food store or online. The first is Boericke & Tafel brand Triflora Arthritis Gel. The next is (any brand) Arnica Gel. My son came home Wednesday night after playing a game of football with a bruise covering his kneecap and the surrounding area. I applied both creams Wednesday night, Thursday morning, and night. This morning he was pain free and the bruise was completely gone. I wish you could get your hands on these two remedies. They work miracles. Hugs!
