The powdered gelatin I buy is hydrolised so it dissolves in cold or hot liquids and does not gel. It specifically comes from beef so it is probably not be something you would want to ingest. I am taking it because I have bone demineralization in my right foot and ankle-gelatin builds bone. It helps with joint pain, too. |

Megs, I'm so sorry you're going through so much! Since the CRPS is in your hands mostly, I would suggest things that don't require hands too much. If you can tie a shoe still, maybe try skating! It can be fun, however if you're not that skilled, I suggest bringing a friend so you don't have to hit the ground. And plus you get to chill with a friend.
Long walks, with music on was always my fix when I had so much on my mind. I would let my cares drift away to some tune that would level out my soul. Its really awesome, plus should be minimum damage on those digits! If you can handle it, get someone to bring you a video game where you just destroy stuff. Rachet and Clank are ones that come to mine where you literally can just beat on anything. Gets all the rage out and the corny, but funny puns liven the soul. Meditate! Deep breathing, if you need guided find a good app for your smart phone to follow. Let your mind rejuvenate. If you have a dog, or if a friend has a dog, take it for a walk. Love it, play with it. Dogs are so oblivious to everything and just care so much about people its hard not to love them. If you don't have either, go to a local shelter and ask to walk a leashed trained dog. They'll love the extra help, and you'll enjoy company with a maintenance free pooch. You can go to make up stores. Like MAC to get a make over. You just sit there and get beautiful. Well more beautiful anyways. Great way to talk girl stuff, and its almost as good as a fresh hair cut. Speaking of, get your hair done. Whether its a colour, or a trim, doesn't matter. Ask them to give your hair a wash, since you can't very well. They'll more than likely give you a good scalp massage. Connect with friends and family, you don't have to talk illness or anything. Just be with them. Watch a movie, or movie marathon. Eat out, or have a BBQ, or just order pizza whatever works. Get some sun, as sun always helps with a dreary mood. Read a book you keep putting off. Anything that makes you happy. If your hands are too sore just shrug it off and find something else that makes you equally happy, but doesn't aggravate your hands. Whatever you do, don't forget that you are worth it, you are beautiful, you are strong, you are amazing, and you will fight whatever comes your way. If you need to talk we are always here for you Megs. Sending lots of healing thoughts your way ![]()

I apologize for a late response. I have not been able to check in daily lately.
I am sorry you've been presented with extra challenges. Must feel overwhelming at times, megs. ![]() I am also helped by watching comedies, watching some movies/documentaries, going to the movies, meeting friends for coffee/tea/chat or a meal, etc. When I can't go out and I want company, I ask friends to stop in. I will check back in to re-read more carefully. I saw your thread title and wanted to respond asap. Love, Light, Healing Thoughts, Prayers, DejaVu

Megs,
Wanted to say hi and welcome. Some of the ways I have coped over the past year have been lots of music and binge watching TV series. These two things seem to help when nothing else will. Most people recommend comedies, but nothing was funny to me. Very intense programs, some that I probably never would have watched before all this, were the only things that would hold my attention. I also do some forms of meditation, mindfullness practices, writing, drawing and more positive things , but there have been times when I could not focus enough or feel positive enough to do these things. Little by little the positives are coming easier. Try to find something that grabs you and takes you away, whatever that is for you. Counseling is also a great outlet and supportive, especially if you find someone that has a speciality in pain management. This has helped me to grieve and process the negative emotions. Now is is helping me to find a new "normal" and make necessary changes. I hope some of this is useful. ~mac Last edited by mama mac; 11-13-2015 at 10:07 PM. Reason: typo |

I love dogs.
![]() Well, I love all animals. Yet, I feel dogs have a certain role and make excellent companions. Most dogs are very empathic, often empathic sponges, and pick up on our emotions. I am glad you have a canine companion, megs. ![]() I am also glad to read your family/friends are lending lots of support. ![]() I had pushed to get a haircut over this past week. I was not "with it," as I had to take enough pain medication in order to attend the appointment. Between the pain and the med side-effects, I was in rough shape. I had explained to my hairdresser. It went well. I am so glad I had attended my appointment. With the holiday season just ahead, it's difficult for me to get an appointment if I miss the one I have already set with the salon. Lots going on around here this weekend. There are so many holiday fairs featuring local artisans. It's so much fun. I hope to get out to at least one of the many craft fair locations today. ![]() ![]() DejaVu
