My gait is off and I know it is contributing to the pain I have had/have in my knee and hip, but I also have agonizing butt pain. Sitting hurts. I told the PT about it, but she has not addressed it.
I have no idea what to do or how to get a diagnosis. I am living like a Jack in the Box, up and down, also squirming and re-positioning myself constantly. The good news is my hip seems to be improving, along with my knee pain. Does anyone else experience this? |

![]() 3 things help me: 1) core strength (inner core ie transverse abdominals and pelvic floor - NO six pack required) 2) glute strength 3)lower spinal alignment awareness while stationary and while in movement, ie POSTURE. Inner core is meant to buffer and absorb movements in all three dimensions -- when we let it atrophy (and 99% of us in the western world have; let's face it) the body compensates the best it can, primarily with knees, ankles, and lower back. Glutes and abs are how we are designed to squat/bend over, with lower back and hamstrings and quads assisting. Most people it's the exact opposite - lower back and quads do most of the work, and it's a simple recipe for ankle, knee, and back pain over time. It took me 10 years to realize my @$$ had stopped working properly ![]() |

Yes! I know its because I walk, sit and generally hold myself differently.
I was thinking about getting a yoga ball but I am so accident prone I see a trip to the ER in my future. The other thing I was worried about is if it would bother my legs, ankles and feet while trying to balance myself. So for now I am just going to focus on my posture and try to focus on strengthening my core. If you find anything that helps please share! Side note: the look on my husband's face when I said my butt hurts was priceless! |
