You know when you have "slept wrong" and get a crick in your neck? That is how my hip is feeling only 10x worse. If I move my leg outward it sends an achy pain down to my shin. I can't get out of bed without rolling onto my left side and picking myself up that way. I also cannot sit on a toilet (sorry for this) and wipe without the pain happening.
That abductor machine that works your outer thighs - that is the area mostly affected (that machine would kill me right now). What do you think? I need any and all the possibilities or thoughts you may have to offer. Is it related to the RSD? It's on the same side and I have been having little (maybe more than a little) issues with my hip/thigh as well as my affected knee. When feeling decent, I try to stretch, could I have just stretched too much? And, because of the RSD, a less than normal stretch was still too much for it? Completely confused - I do have a call into my doctor also. So all the info I can get would be great. Thanks in advance.

It could be artritis satting in also. I have it in both hips. I also get the same problem you have at times. Mine comes from not moving around enough at times. It feels like I have pinched nerves a lot of times also. I have had triggerpoint injections in my hips to calm down the inflamation that comes with the arthritis.
It could be the RSD spreading. I don't know how in tune you are with your body yet but I can soon figure out what is RSD and what isn't with mine. Use a sleeping pad on that side. Also I use Lidocaine patches. I throw one of those on and in no time the pain lets up especially if it's not RSD. Ada |

Hi ya Christine! How long have you had this pain? I too feel the same way as Adda. Maybe the RSD has spread. This happened to me.. I went to bed one night in May, thought it was the way I slept.. but here the RSD had spread to my shoulder. I forgot(yesterday) and brushed my hair real quick with a hair brush, and wham! unbearable shooting pain all through.. It's awful. Please let your Dr. know whats going on, Christine! I too have trouble wiping) It's awful! Love and hugs to you sweetie! Love, Desi

In response to both - thanks.
Ada, my neighbor gave me a lidocaine patch. It helped briefly (max 10-20 min maybe) and then didn't after that. This is definitely a new pain in the hip. Desi, I have been experiencing this pain now for two days. I called my doc. I am to go to Urgent Care. Will let you know what they say. Anytime I have dealt with other docs other than my PM & GP than they tried to diagnose something else and look at me funny about RSD. About a month ago, I was driving and my hip started hurting badly. My seatbelt was pushing into my hip and hurting it soooo badly. I can accept that it could be spread, however, I would hope it's not. LOL

Hello,
The aching pain down to your shin sounds like sciatic pain. Of course it is not appropriate to diagnose over the computer but the restrictions in movement and the pain you describe pretty much fit a sciatic nerve inflammation. One excercise that may help, although I don't know what your usual capabilities are, is to lean forward against a wall with your arms, or elbows, which ever you can manage then extend your bad leg back(as if doing a ballet move). This will take the strain off the nerve and might give some relief. Of course it will take a doctor or physiotherpaist to diagnose properly and with a bit of luck it may just need some physio and anti-inflammatories to help you. I hope you can get relief soon regards Tayla |

How is that leg doing? Did the meds help.
Usually the flareups calm down after awhile. Hope so anyway. Ada |
