I too just recently got Fully Favorable and did the jig!! Oh happy day indeed. But boy was I in for a big surprise when it came time for my retro pay to be paid back to me. I filed last year in June of 06. So I was figuring I would get my retro effective if nothing else starting 1 July of 06. NOT!!! SSDI decided for whatever reason I will never ever be able to figure out. They started it last December 06 instead. WHY you ask??? Don't know. Than I had to give my Disability Attorney her portion. Than SS folks decided to reconfigure my monthly ssocial security versus what I would receive if I was receiving additional SSi which I am not. So all in all I was going to be receiving approx. 6,532.53 in accordance with my calculations, but the reality is I only got 2,363.34. There is not a damm thing I can do about it. Welcome to the wonderful world of disability. Uncle Sam has us right by the

Mark,
SSD doesn't pay for the first 5 months of the disability. I guess they consider it a probation period. They determinded that I became disabled in Dec. 05. So dec to april are not payed. they started in May. But as I didn't apply till sept. they gave me back pay from May to Dec, when they made the determindation to approve. I know it's not great, but that is the way they do it. I would have them redo the calculation as you are not getting SSI. Have you thought to apply for it? If not, then they shouldn't count that amt.
