My pain management team just started me on Namenda. Has anyone taken it? What have your experiences been?

Thanks, Jim. I'm very eager to see how it works for me. Especially reassuring is the fact that it clears thinking. I've had a horrible time with brain fog here lately.
Reading through that thread and others here, I realize how very blessed I am to have the excellent medical team I have. It's tough to read about people who could be helped by a med or treatment but either cannot afford it or can't find a doctor to help them. I'm very thankful. |

LOL! My husband is in the military so that pretty much explains it.
I have to say, the military really has treated me well with this horrible disease. |

That's very good to hear! It's bad enough how WC, HMOs etc. treat Americans, it's good to hear those protecting us are nicely covered!

Thanks! They are giving it because it is an NMDA antagonist. More info is available here.
Thanks for the compliments on my name! |

Jim, THAT's a Memory you have!
I just wanted to mention that while I don't always take namenda (just lazy) I guess, but I DO Take 5 mg (the starter dose) of Aricept in the AM. Nothing for pain, it's the leading altzheimer's med, and it does a GOOD job of clearing some of the fog. I have a TBI Also, and used to be on the hellacious med Provigal.... legal speed. My head injury is rather serious, a subdural hematoma about the size of an egg. I was in a 'walking coma' for almost four years, and lost everything I owned during that time (lawyer and 2nd wife). My neuro finally gave me some samples of this, and it helped. And, continues to. Hope this may help some...... be well!! Pete |
