Heya,

This isn't RSD related but I'm still stoked about it!

I have been offered the free rent of a house for the rest of the summer! and it is almost perfect for me - I just have to work out how to transport the hoist up there and then I am sorted!! I am SO excited. It is only a 2 up, 2 down in an old farmhand's cottage but it will be great to try living on my own (well.. sort of!, the carers will move down with me), but the front door is flat (no steps) with a huge bathroom which we can get a hoist and wheelchair in, a galley kitchen I can move around in, a huge living room which will fit my bed and the hoist etc and then 2 upstairs bedrooms for friends/ carers! and I can take Baby dog!! YAY! I am so excited!! Just need to persuade mum at the moment - she really doesn't want me to go - but it's only a 40 minute drive from home, so I can easily come back if it all goes wrong or if she needs me for something.. but it would be so nice to just have a break from home (if that makes sense - because whilst I'm here all I can really do is stay in bed unless there are a couple of people around as this house is so rubbish for access). I am VERY excited now

So, will let you know if I go down there..fingers crossed!

everything is crossed. It sounds like a perfect setup. I hope it works out for you. You mum hopefully will understand that you need to be on your own. The house sounds wonderful. I bet it is overlooking some grassy land??? I'm glad you can take your dog. Even on the worse days, my animals make life bearable.

I'm a big believer in The Universe guiding our steps. Seems to me when The Universe goes to all that trouble to set something up so perfect for you, you ought to grab it with both hands.

You gotta have a little conversation with Mom about interferring with commands from The Universe. She (The Universe) usually doesn't go to all that trouble unless she's got something planned for you

Send us a postcard once you get settled in. Just to get away from the every day, hurry-worry sounds lovely.

Frogga, did I read your post correctly? Did you actually get good news for a change!!!!!???? Way to go, Frogga. When I was your age I got my very first place of my own. It was in a nurses dorm for all the gals who worked at the hospital where I was employed. It was just 1 little room with a bathroom down the hall but I thought it was heaven! I'm sure your Mom is worried about you {that is what Moms do} but she'll come around. And, you can take your dog with you!!!! It doesn't get much better than that. I have 2 little ones that make this dread disease so much more tolerable. Hope all works out the way you're wishing for. Take care, jeannie

I think the best bit is that where my bed will go I will be able to look out of the window into the garden. I went up to visit it and the neighbours are lovely - and one is a nurse, another an HCA (health care assistant) and there are another 3 people with cottages around there, but after meeting them I really felt that this was meant to be - it was amazing - they understood RSD - well, neuropathic pain - as one of the nurses is off with L1/L2 herniated disks and L3/L4/L5 slipped disks and spinal stenosis - so we had a good old chat about gabapentin!

I have some photos which I will post when I can find my camera (the trip to the house really took it out of me) but it is amazing! The back gardens are private and then there is about an acre of land at the front shared between the cottages, complete with communal vegetable patch and where all the dogs can roam freely. It's a pretty wow place as it is in the middle of fields and all you can see to each horizon is either green fields or woods - and even better - it wasn't flooded!

I know! I am so pleased to finally have something positive happen! and it will be awesome to be living so close to people again and to be able to see the garden when I am stuck in bed!

Desi: Thanks babe, how are you doing? I am still working on mum - she is not overly excited about it and keeps throwing hissy fits about it - but she WILL come round.

Mary: That was the clincher - being able to take the dogs with me - I have a white alsation and a bijon frise and they are such a part of my (home) life, I can't imagine leaving them when I could have them with me (I can't have them at uni). I know what you mean about the animals - they just know when you are having a bad day and just make the pain less isolating and lonely - even if I can't have them on the bed just having them sleeping in the room, or having Fred (one of the cats) asleep on my wheelchair just makes it.. easier.

Barb: Thanks! I totally see what you mean - I found out today that HCA is going to try and borrow some equipment from the wards at work so that I can move in! and also they have agreed to come and help as much as needed! I am so wowed by the whole thing! It definetly feels like I am being pushed in that direction! Just need to persaude mum....

Molly: LOL, but of course.! Then Ben can come down! YAY!!

Jeannie: What type of dogs have you got? I know! GOOD NEWS! YAY! sometimes it does start to feel all negative! I am so looking forward to abit more independence - going to uni was great, but you are still surrounded by staff, house keepers, adults and then you have a responsibility to other students, so it will be so cool to be 100% independent (well, apart from the carers). Independence is total heaven! suddenly no one makes up silly rules that you will obviously break etc!

Frogga, I have 2 pomeranians....one is a 12 year old named Peanut and the other is an 11 month old named Ivy. They would just love to romp in that beautiful garden you spoke of. I sure do hope you will feel well enough to enjoy it....sounds heavenly. You deserve a special treat!!! Let me know how you get along. Jeannie

I've been lurking around reading your posts and you are truly inspiring.....I am so happy for you, what a perfect situation....what are the odds of neighbors like that and a garden to view from your window....Wow the universe just blows me away sometimes.
Your Mom will come around, with 4 kids I've had to let go so many times but I do know us Moms only want the best and your joy will be contagious for her...it will be good for both of you
