Default Mine is worse when the weather is hot

Not only do I have daily bouts of nausea, but it gets worse during the summer months when temps get into the upper 80s and beyond.

There is also a connection between my pain levels and the nausea; the worse I hurt the sicker I get.

Heart RSD & Gastroparesis

Many of the meds given for RSD can cause Gastroparesis. That is a slowing down of the stomach to empty. The stomach muscles can't push the food though fast enough and it just lays there & you become nauseaous. Try a non fat liquid diet for a while & see if that helps.

Default Hi Jen's Mom

That is one of the things I have just been diagnosed with. I have been on Mitformin for over a year and now on Amitiza to try and help with my stomach problems.

As far as the Phenergan, I still keep it around but one of the side effects is developing ticks that don't go away. Body jerks. My Dr. has mentioned this to me several times so I have cut down on when I use the Phenergan. People might want to read up on this. I have heard about it on the news also.

It seems the meds can do more harm then good at times.

Hi Ada, I too was just prescribed Amitiza for my stomach problems, I have only taken it once, how is it working for you? Under WebMd it said it was used for idiopathic problems, not necessarily when used with pain meds because of the problems they can cause. I am having such problems with my stomach I don't know what to do. I am hoping this medicine will work. I do take pain meds and others that can cause this problem, but I need to take them or I can not function,What else can happen as time goes on I have had RSD since 1986 and every couple of years something new pops up! Help!
Your friend Wendy

Default Hi Wendy,

I am having trouble with bloating with it. At first I thought it was helping with the constipation but now it doesn't seem to be helping with that. I have been on it a few weeks now. You might ask your Dr. if you can try the Mitformin. My Dr. put me on it over a year ago. It is used for diabetes but it is working for some of my stomach issues. I'm not diabetic so I'm not on it for that. I developed breathing problems about 2 months ago and he put me on the Amitiza in hopes it would help make my stomach work better. He thinks the food is backing up in me and laying on my lungs. I do know I have cronic constipation. My surgeon saw that on the test I had a couple of months ago. I was like that over a year ago when they ran test. They say my system is shutting down and thats why they are trying these things. I think mine was caused from meds too. Don't know which ones but to me the side effects of some are worse then the results.

I am off of all of my pain meds except when I am having a bad day. I used 3 lidocaine patches last night due to the weather change. I try not to do any pain meds due to the side effects they cause.

I hope it works for you. I am having trouble with the bloating as I said so I don't know if I want to stay on it. So far I have.

Ada

Yes, I've been on Phenergan. When my Neuro found out I was taking it he had a FIT! Told me that I developed motor tics and they would be permanent. I have since been prescribed Zofran (the med they give during chemo). I will have a spell of good days, then I will be very sick and vomiting for several days. I think it's worse when I am in a flare, and I think that for me it's somewhat psychosematic (sp?). If I even think that I will be sick, I will be.

Funny, once I am sick and vomit, I am completely fine. I can be driving, at the airport, shopping mall, etc. I even kept getting sick while on a beach in Florida. Just rolled over and kept enjoying the sun. Very wierd!

Hi Ada, thanks for replying so quickly, the last thing I need right now is bloating, however my other needs also need to be fixed. You said you don't take any pain meds, I thought you said something about lidocaine patches, are the sold OTC? I have to take my meds to function (kind of) Even my blood pressure meds I'm on 4 of those cause this problem , so what are we supposed to do. Do these patches work for the pain? and do they still cause the same problems?
Thanks Wendy
