Hello to all and hope everyone is O.K. Can somebody tell me what's up with this unending nausea. I was hoping it was my meds but apparently not because some days I don't have it. How is this RSD related and what do you all do for it? My appetite went out the window and at 100 pounds I need to get it back.It is very hard to keep a positve attitude when all I want to do is throw up. Thanks for your advice and take good care of yourselves..Jeannie

I have found that if I over do it my nausea gets really bad. So, it does seem pain related to me- especially as I always have some amount of nausea since my RSD got terrible.
![]() There seems to be nothing I can do atm. Though, I am considering an anti nausea medicine (if you see my posts in my neurologist thread) to try and deal with it. If my meds for pain (since I feel it is pain related) do not calm the nausea down to a degree I can live with than I am talking to my doctor about it and telling him I *have* to have an anti nausea medicine. Right now the nausea and vomiting is awful, and my blood pressure keeps dropping, so I am close to fainting or fainting... and all I can do is lay in bed flat majority of the time, anything I eat sends my stomach into terrible cramps and the vomiting starts again. I am trying my best to not do much so that hopefully the flare up will calm down and life will be more manageable again. Perhaps you can talk to your doctor about this... or try an over the counter medicine. I know what you are dealing with-- hang in there!! ![]() ![]() |

Hi there..
I get nasty nausia too and found it very hard to eat what and when I should, I found smoking medicinal herb realy helps me, actualy my nausia hasn't been quite as bad lately.. I thinjk the lyrica helps the apetite some too. My Dr wrote me a note that says that I smoke marajuana to help control nausia and pain. It's not for everybody but it helps me lots takes the edge off the unrelentin gnaggin aches and gets rid of that sicky puky feeling that we don't even know we got cause it blends in with the pain so well. So well it's not for everybody no med is I have tried Nabalone (dosn't work quite as well for the pain but realy helps nausia alot) it is usualy perscribed to chemo patients to control nausia. I am going to try sativix to see if that works better (aparently the spray tastes really yucky) because I am not liking putting it in my lungs. Its good in cake (my birthday cake is excelently spiced and iced) but I'm never sure the doseage that way, so only when I have no plans for a bit. This all probibly makes me more scattered but thats a small price to pay for pain relief and an appetite. |

I have serious issues with nausea too, it really sucks. I blamed it on the aids for the longest time, even though I had too many t-cells. Sandel is quite correct, medicinal marijuana is the absolute best anti-nausea med I have ever used. It also makes one extremely hungry, which is helpful to those of us under 100 lbs. Depending on where you are, though, that might not be possible. There is a pharmaceutical version of mj called Marinol. It's not as good, but it helps a lot. I take all three pills I am allowed per day, at ONE time. That way I eat at least one great meal a day, and have some pain and mood relief, too! ![]()

I haven't read all the replies, my bad, but I was having nausea ALOT especially when I became over heated for any reason. (Which happens alot since RSD hit both my feet severely & my hands mildly). And for me, that could spell disaster, because I ALWAYS faint when I go past the nausea on to the inevitable which we all know is NOT fun at all. It was quite by accident that I discovered that popsicles would cool me down from the inside out. By eating one the minute I felt I was overheating, I could reduced my body temperature enough it helped control the nausea. But of course there are times when going to the freezer would not be an option. So I finally convinced my PM Doc to write me a script for Meclazine. That was hmmmm back in 2005. He first wrote Compazine for me, but when I didn't have any pharmacy coverage I couldn't get Compazine from the pharmaceutical company for free or reduced cost. But I could get Meclazine that way so he changed the script. BUT now Melcazine is over the counter at the highest dose & cheaper to buy this way also, at least for me. I live in CA so cost is always high here for things like this. To buy a 100 caplets at the 12.5 mg dose (which btw is the highest dose allowed) is only about $7.95. A 100 lasts a very long time. Now you do have to ask for it at the pharmacy counter as they keep this behind the counter. And of course you can get it as a script from your doctor but you pay your copay for only maybe 30 pills, if you still have a copay that is. Just ask the pharmacist how you should take it & it does have directions on it or ask your doctor. Don't let them sell you something like Dramamine. It has other 'stuff' in it too & just doesn't seem to work as well either cause I tried it too.
Like I said popsicles help alot too. Besides they taste wayyyyyyy better than taking meds *LOL* I actually use both now. I try not to use Meclazine as much as it makes me sleepy too. And I am sleepy enough from the other meds I take as it is. Who needs more sleepiness??? Besides I love popsicles. I buy the cheapy things like Artic pops, etc., the ones you see the kids pushing up thru a plastic tube thingy. And this way I always have them here when my grandsons come to visit. They love them too. I will do anything to not get nausea take 'cause like I said, I ALWAYS faint when I get 'ill'. I have been that way since I was 17 yrs old & I am now almost 54 (got a BD coming up on July 31 ![]() I sure hope this helps someone else. And I wanted to share what has helped me the most. DebbyV |

I swear by the Phenergan and keep it in the house. When I was sick last week I couldn't keep it down so the hospital gave it to me by IV. They also gave me a script for suppositories of Phenergan and I have both now. I don't use it often but as I said, I keep it in my house and have for about 5 years.
