Ginger extract capsules are excellent for nausea. It has been trialed in the past comparing it to heavy duty nausea RX meds.
And they are not expensive either. Just take with a full glass of water and remain upright for an hour...refluxing it can be intense if you are prone to reflux. I have a twisted GI tract and a hiatal hernia and am prone to nausea and it works for me better than any drug. (called malrotation) Severe pain can cause nausea as well as high dose opiates. |
Ahhh, same thing happenned to me! i had a spree of about 5 months where i couldnt even put a peice of gum in my mouth without throwing up, i was throwing up and dry heaving so much that blood was coming out. I wound up losing like 50 pounds of muscle, quite sad... but it eventually decreased signiffigantly and i have the occasional Outbreak here and there, Mainly when my day to day shedule changes ALOT or when im having signiffigantly increased pain., Good Luck! i know it can be hard!

Hi gail... i too have rsd in my right hand and am a new member here. just was reading this post and going yes yes yes to all the info that applies to me such as the nausea. It is more at night and i never ever had nausea like it even when i was pregnant lol. i beleive it is a response to the pain levels It is very reassuring to see that so many others with rsd have this symptom also. it has been so frustrating not having the use of my right hand. definitely not reliable anyhow lol. If i try to hold fork or knife , i mostly wind up dropping them quickly.lose my grip easily. i can not come anywhere's close to being able to make a fist lol. i think the darn stiffness even limits me moreso than the pain ! do you find it really limits yur life too ??? I am trying to overcome it or at least do the best i can so i might get remission. sure is nice to send a message to someone going through the same issues who can understand me lol. maybe we can chat sometime??

When my mother was dying of cancer, she was sick every morning. Dr. gave her valium to calm her stomach and it helped a little. I take lorazepam, an anti anxiety med and i feel it helps. Having fluxuation of blood pressure is part of RSD. It is an autonomic disorder. meaning we have no control over regularatory organs. We have high and low blood pressure. If it gets too low, we pass out. So it's important to watch our pressure. I passed out once for an hour and half and was hospitalized semi icu for several days. Welcome again, one of your new friends, loretta with big hugs:grouphug: |
Eugh! nausea...
So horrible! I can totally understand how awful it can be (and frustrating) to deal with.. especially when stupid things such as even a smell makes you throw up etc. I take 20mg qds domperidone which helps with the nausea and sickness although unfortunatly not the burning. I have times when it's hard to keep things down and in that case I'll eat bland mushed food very slowly. When I'm at my mums she will make me things like stewed apple mush and feed it to me over the course of a day a mouthful or two at at time so I can avoid having to eat an entire meal at once (which when the nausea etc is bad results in me just throwing it all up again). I've found that flavoured ice pops and ginger can sometimes help. I really hope yours improves soon. Love and pain free hugs Rosie xxxx |
Nausea caused by pain?
hey you guys, since I last posted I have had two doctors, my pain doctor and my ortho, independently diagnose me with RSD. Well, now I'm staring to get nausea almost every time the pain in my leg flares up. Is that normal, have any of you dealt with the same thing? This sucks, there's no other way to put it...is there anything I can do? Will something like promethazine help it? I have tons of promethazine laying around, just didnt know if it would be a good idea to take it with my meds (ms contin 15mg, lyrica 175mg, seroquel 100mg...)
Any ideas? This is the third night in a week, and i haven't mentioned it to my pain doctor yet. And is promethazine something that would be an issue with a pain contract? Thanks guys. --Tim |
