Default Unsteadiness RSD

Hi there
Ive recently become really wobbly can anyone tell me why this may be?? I have RSD in my left foot. Lately my knee feels like it is giving way. I am on crutches but I always have to have one of my parents with me - which is pretty embarrasing when I need to go to the bathroom!! Can anyone please give me any advice on what to do?? I have spoken to my consultant and hes swapped my tablets thinking that it was the Gabapentin, but I am still ever so wobbly,
can anyone please tell me what it could be??
Many thanks
Alison

Default Hi Ali,

I think the wobbliness is part of the RSD. I have fell 13 times since being diagnosed with it. My caregivers finally got me all of the things in the bathroom and shower I need to keep myself up or get out of it.

I don't understand why he would take you meds instead of maybe just cutting down the dosage to see if that might help if that is the problem. Since you are still falling it sounds like it's part of the RSD or it could be something going on like Vertigo.

Welcome to the forum and I do hope you hang around.

Ada

Hi,
I also have rsd in my left foot. I am wobbly all the time. I actually fell 8 weeks ago and broke the toes on my right foot, and ripped the ligments apart at the same time. Now I have two bad feet. I am also on neurontin, but i was wobbly before that. I think it is the rsd and not the meds. I see my pm again monday, and I don't want him to change or reduce my meds.

Alison
I have been wondering about that also. In the past couple of months I seem to be off balance alot. I have rsd in my right foot and need the crutches also. Since 1999 when I got the rsd I have fallen alot. I am going to talk to my dr. about it at the nest visit. Mabey it is just another thing that comes with rsd. Be careful.

Mine is in my right knee and hip and I am extremely wobbly. Patrick listens for me when I am in the shower cause I have almost fallen a couple of times. It's the RSD. Hugs.

Hi Alison,

My daughter is 14 and has had RSD for 6 years. She does get kinda wobbly too and has needed to have me with her more than she would like! She always uses a shower chair in the shower and we have put bars up so she can hold on while hopping. She has also learned to get up slowly and take things easy when she is feeling a bit dizzy. She hasn't had to at home, but at the therapy pool, she uses a walker for more stability. Maybe instead of crutches, you could try that so you can go in the bathroom and around the house a little more grounded. Just a thought.

Our family sure knows what your family is going through and I am so glad you have found this site. It is very helpful and beneficial. I hope your parents read the posts and look for answers here too. I know I couldn't get through all of this without these people.

Let us know how you are doing,
Katherine

i am wobbly also and have taken some good falls ... i'm not sure if there is anything that helps, i think as soon as we take our mind off each step we are taking, we can easily fall and that is just the way it is. our bodies with the pain and the stiffening are off kilter and so we are prone to it.

Default Me too..

Hi Everyone.

I also find myself unsteady. I sort of tip over. It can happen at any time. I've also fallen and have messed up my knees. I don't have RSD in my legs, so this would need to be from the medication. I'm not surprised at all. I'm also on Neurontin. I am extra careful when going down steps. I don't know when I'll loose my balance.

I find it increasingly difficult to find words... If you know what I mean. I sort of say ummm all the time. It's hard in a business atmostphere... I try to find the words to say before I try to say them - so I don't sound like an idiot.
