As Lovesterriers suggested shop around for a better price. Compounding is more expensive, but some compounders are more patient friendly than others. Right now you have to see if it is the drug that will work for you. If it turns out it gives you the relief that you need, inquire about pricing for higher quantities i.e. 3 months instead of just one. Maybe that would be cheaper.

Maybe it's country-specific, but why are prices in the US so vastly different one pharmacy to the next? It's odd, because we have government-fixed prices and no pharmacy deviates from that.

Here is our pharmacy database, where you can look-up medications and their prices (language = Dutch), by "BRANDNAME" or "generic name":

- chondromalacia patellae both knees
- RSD both legs (late diagnosis, almost 3 years into RSD) & spread to arms/hands as of 2008

Oh that's a HUGE bag of worms. Not only do we get vastly overcharged in the US for our prescription drugs (as compared to the rest of the world) but our insurance is all different for different people on different plans... and then larger pharmacies can afford to offer discounts so sometimes they are cheaper. But then on specialized stuff sometimes the smaller pharmacy may be better (they may pay closer attention to the work, etc.) and you may get better pricing to. Welcome to the free market in the USA. Its insane.

Yeah, I thought so. Over here we sometimes talk about the rest of the world. We are overtaxed (up to 50%), for sure, but we do have general health insurance. It's kind of outweighing the pros and cons of both systems, isn't it. It's not like general health care comes cheap.
