Hi there, I am so surprised that your doctor said that to you about a ganglion block
They are proven to help many people and in the hands of a doctor who is competent then it can be a wonderful option with a relatively low risk.
I agree that it should never be attempted by someone who is not a skilled Pain Management doctor---perhaps this doctor had not had much experience so it was a good call on his behalf.
I agree with you, we must always be aware and be proactive before we undertake any treatment. Sometimes unfortunately we can get to the point of giving anything a shot just in case
