if you are going to take avinza you might want to ask your doc about the coupon they have right now. it is an up to 20 dollars off card that the reps have...the bonus about this one compared to some of the other ones i have been given it is good for each monthly refill. always a plus to save a little coin

Default Opana and Avinza

I have taken both drugs...the Avinza is extended release Morphine while the Opana is extended realease oxymorphone. The Opana makes me feel horrible, even before I get to my next does which is every 12 hours I am absolutely miserable. Makes me very fidgety, and nervous, sleepy, constipated (which is totally normal with any of these drugs), depressed, and severe headaches. It does take the edge off of my pain but certainly does not take the pain away. The Avinza made me very very sick. I am 33 with RSD of the right arm for a little over two years now, I hate being on meds at all so I can be a little negative on the whole subject. I held my 7 yr old son while he died from a brain tumor 3 years ago and the meds just took a toll on his little body. My main advice is that no matter what any of us tell you, everyone reacts differently. These medications may be a godsend to you, while not helping someone else at all....if you have a good doc see if you can try it for a while, but if it does not work he will change you immediately...there is no point in anyone being miserable from a medication when there are others available.

Default hi deb

my neurologist started me on 120 mg of avinza. i have been taking it since 11-15 and it seems to be working well for me. doesn't take all the pain away (but then i don't think anything would take it all away) i don't get sick on it and can still function at home,at work and when i drive.. hope it works for you..i will try to make it to the next meeting and see how things are working for you..wishing you well..linda (moonstar)

Default Opana vs Avinza

I have been on Opana er for a while now. my doctor just took me off of it because I was experiencing stiffness in my body when I sat or lay down too long. I would get up from bed to go to the bathroom and I was so stiff I was unsteady and had to force myself to move. he now has me starting tomorrow on Avinza..I am tired alot of the time I have breakthrough pain and mild headaches .. anyone here on Avinza?

I was on it for 6 weeks or so...it made me so sleepy / drugged.. only 30 mg per day...I took myself off of it. Have had withdrawl for two weeks.. very sick for at least 10 days. SO... caution. It DID work really well for the foot involved..almost made it painless..night was the only time I had breakthrough, but couldn't function, being that drugged feeling. Back on oxycodone now... 15 20 mg a day.. but sure is hard to manage...and takes 30 min to kick in. I have tried at least 6 or 8 diff. drugs. All had side effects that were not acceptable. WISH I could find a SAFE.. pain killer that only worked on the foot and not the whole bod.... let me know if you have any like that ...LOL.

My pain managment doctor has me on opana er 15mg twice a day and cymbalta 30mg once a day, so far I haven't had any luck with both. Me and my doc have to have a long talk about pain meds b/c he wanted me to try Fentora although my health insurance won't approve it and in the mean time I have been without stronger pain meds that I currently need. Anyone know of a strong pain med that I won't have to battle the insurance companies with?
