Crazy hi

hey, its been awhile.

i just have some questions bout all thats happened 2 me recently. okay, they realized bp was WAY up (top number reaching nearly 200 and bottom number in the 100's) which i kept on telling them that i think my bp is high and they just recently checked it.... anyways, on medicine and its still kinda high but it has lowered greatly they were like (at first when they realized i had high bp....imagine that) maybe it is from diet. yahh, im itty bitty and i hate salty things and i have nvr really been a junkfood person. makes sens to me...not.

but they were trying to figure out y it was high and did tests and stuff and on blood work, ANA was positive (no clue what that means but i feel smart sayig that ) and they thought i had lupus and now they say they dont know, i might have it, i might not, so confusing and they are starting to think what i told them in the beginning about it just MIGHT be rsd. nice 2 know drs listen to u.

but does anyone know if positive ANA is common w/ rsd or anything?

or what can cause the high bp?

or y drs dont listen?

thanks hugs

nikki

Default Hi Nikki,

High blood pressure comes a lot of the times with the pain we are in. The higher the pain the higher the blood pressure gets at times. I have noticed this with me.

I do know you really have to keep an eye on the bp and try to get it down. That's the cause of me losing Bill. He had high blood pressure from the time we got married, maybe before. It started getting worse about 15 years ago and no Dr. could get it down. Our PCP worked harder at it then any heart Drs. he saw. Our PA use to say he didn't know how he was still standing. It was inherited also for him.

Was your BP high before RSD or after? I know that might be a hard question to answer. I can't remember things from day to day. We have finally got mine back down and it has stayed down except when my pain is through the roof.

Also you might want to see a Cardiolgist. There might be other reasons your BP is so high. Nowadays we seem to have to see a Dr. for each thing going on.

Why do Drs. not listen? Good question. I use to run up on that a lot when I first became injured. I think for me it was because I just had too many medical issues and they didn't want to deal with me. Also money is an issue at times. I had no insurance for 5 years and then when I did get insurance it was state insurance and a lot of Drs. wouldn't even see me because of it.
I honestly believe it's just finding the right Dr. that knows what he is doing and cares. With RSD, there are a lot of drs. that know nothing about it. I ran up on some that did and wouldn't take care of me because of it. When it comes to surgeries a person needs, it's really hard to find a Dr. that will take care of a patient with RSD.

I hope you do get your diagnoses. I think that's one of the hardest things about being ill, is not getting diagnosed. Once you do then it's just finding the right Drs. in that field.

Hope you get your answers soon.

Ada

Why do doctors not listen? Arrogance! They spent so much time in school studying this stuff, who do we think we are helping them with the diagnoses? Anyway, I am lucky to have found some that do pay attention to me as a thinking person and not a lab rat. I have walked away from others who just want to "try another drug" and move to the next exam room.

High blood pressure, as Ada said, has many, many causes. Pain is indeed one of them and chronic pain could mean chronic high BP. I agree to go to a cardiologist and/or others until you can get better control. 200/100 is nothing to fool with.

Good luck.

Cool hello..

I had a high ANA count..
Winter 2005/6 they said it was 1:160 which is in the high range of lupus.. three weeks later I tested again and it was back down again , I think at times we get false negative tests because of the effects of RSD on our immune systems I was all swelly achy too at the time so my inflamitory system (everywhere) was whacked at the time as it would be for lupus too.

I sure hope you get a diagnosis soon.. we hope it's not RSD but best to know right.

hope this helps ease the mind a bit on lupus.. it's a nasty too.
hugz,
Sandra

Thanks Ada, Mike, and Sandra

Yeah, I want them to send me to a cardiologist just make sure my heart is fine from the high bp.

As for blood pressure before rsd, I had it checked a few months before at a routine checkup and it was normal, but after rsd dx they never checked it until I went to the er like about 7 months later? And it was high then and they blamed it on anxiety.... So far, they put me on 160 mg of...diovon?? and limited my sodium intake and just doubled medicine because the top number was down some but the bottom number hadn't dropped. So far, its kinda working. Bottom number is double digits which is loads better But it still has gotten pretty high a few times. I see the dr next week.

And, yeah. They think it might have been a false positive but maybe not? I forgot.

Thanks again

Hugs
