Hi Allen

sorry you are experiencing timeouts

Could you please send DocJohn a message if your are having a time out problem writing posts or PMs as then he can directly look into what the problem may be.

I use the "keep me logged in" feature and have tried testing it the other way but I dont time out, so am not sure why this is happening

But if you explain it as it has happened to you, then that may give DocJohn the info he needs to correct it

thanks
Cheri
ps I will also make a note of this for him on admin forum, but a PM direct to him from you would still be most helpful. Thanks

Wink I cheat....LOL

Allen,
I don’t know about timing out, or what causes it, as I have never had it happen to me.

Weird, huh? You would think that someone that writes the book length posts (and PM’s) that I do would be the first one to have problems with running out of time getting them posted or sent off or whatever. I think that part of the problem that I have with my long posts, though, is the way that I write them. I think that it winds up being a vicious circle type of thing.

See, just about everything that I write, I write using a Word Processing program. Once it get it finished (and sometimes, go back over and re-read it, if I am worried about it causing problems, or if I have written it when I am very angry) then I copy and paste the whole thing into the reply thingy here, and then send it on. That way, I don’t have to worry about any “Timing Out” stuff at all.

It also helps me, because I can use the spell checker easier on my WP program (I like how they are very nice and will put a red underline under a word that you have misspelled RIGHT then, letting you know that you have had a brain fart, and catching those “stooopid” typos and such. LOL). I can also save whatever I am working on, to come back to it, or to have it to re-read before I post it (leaving things sit, and then coming back to re-read them is a thing that I have found very helpful in not getting into too many fights and whatnot on here. Things always look a bit different to me if I can leave them sit for a bit, while I cool off, or re-think things). Not only that, but my WP program has an auto save feature that will save whatever I am working on as a back up document if my computer gets turned off abruptly (like due to a loss of power, or in the case of my old computer, a TOTAL computer brain lock that would require me to have to just turn the darn thing off manually....because it wouldn’t let me click on anything to try to save stuff, or turn the stupid thing off right).

Being able to save whatever I am working on, or just having it sit in a safe place while I am working on it is VERY helpful to me, as I have problems sitting at the computer. But, as I said, I think that this might also contribute to my lengthy posts, as I can loose my track in what I am saying, or I can think of more and more things to say.....elaborate more on subjects when maybe that isn’t totally needed...those kinds of things. It does help that I write like I talk, though either. ROFLMAO!

Anyway...you might try writing your posts and PM’s in some sort of WP program so that you don’t wind up losing everything that you had taken the time to sit down and write. At least until Doc John can look into the matter and maybe fix it. I don’t know how long the timer thing is set for, but to me it doesn’t really make sense to have a “Time Out” feature enabled here on Nuerotalk, because there are SOOOOO many people that post here, on many different message boards, that have problems that don’t allow them to type quickly for all kinds of different reasons. I would get very aggravated if I had to worry all of the time about a time limit, as I know I would loose my posts all of the time. I simply can’t sit here for very long, and am sure that I would loose things even if I typed shorter posts. I am not kidding when I say that I have to get up from here FREQUENTLY. Between my lower RSD problems, my bad back (and RSD there too), AND my hand getting worn out and tired after only a very short time....I have only a few minutes to sit, read, and type each time that I get on the computer.

Just thought that I would make a suggestion as to how to try to get around that timer thing. I hope that it helps....?

Love and
Jose
