Default Off subject, but these things seem crazy to me.

In Fort Collins' Co. the city is not putting up any red and green lights for Christmas because it is offensive to some religions.

In another state a school has banned hugging of the students. Susan had to sat down and talk to Devin about this because he hugs everybody. When I ask him who his best friend was in school. He said he didn't have one, they all were. He's like that. So open.

In another school they are handing out birth control pills to 11 year olds. The pills might help pregnancy but it doesn't help STD's.

Do any of you think some of these things are just crazy like I do. Do people have nothing better to do then to sit around and make these crazy rules and laws.

In my Grandson's school, they can't wear red, white, nor blue, because it represents gangs, I guess it doesn't matter that it also represents the flag.

The kids can't wear hoodies because they can put a gun in the hood.

Girls can color their hair but boys can't.

I don't think there is a day goes by anymore that the news doesn't tell of another one of these crazy issues.

What's your thought on this?

Ada

Default Hi Ada

Hi Ada,
I live in the UK but I totally understand what you mean, it is the same UK.

In my school we can wear black trainers but we can't have any other colour on them.

We can't sing Baa Baa Black Sheep to young children because it is racist to Africans etc.

Boys can colour their hair but girls can't

Girls can only wear bobbles/headbands etc that are green, black or white, to represent our schools uniform

Boys can't wear tracksuit bottoms

Girls can't wear skirts

It is just stupid
Pain free hugs

Default Hi Ali,

Those rules sound so ignorant. Why can you not wear a skirt? I can understand if it were a mini but longer hemlines should be ok'd.

In the school Devin goes to, a petition has been signed to get the principal out. This is his last year. We live in a small close knit town and I think people just thought the man was nuts.

I am really attached to my Grandson's, so I am involved in their school life. I have had a round with their principal already. They were hoping to get him out this school year but apparently there was a contract but thankfully he will be gone after this year. He came in and started throwing out rules like he was an army officer. His last name is Strubel but everyone calls him screwball. Even the teachers.

I think they have their priorites wrong. With things as trivial as colors, I guess the next thing the country will do is to ask Crayola to quit making certain colors of crayons. LOL

I notice in the state where they are giving away birth control pills, there is a group getting together to fight it. I would be right in there if I had an 11 year old child. I would want to teach the kids not to have casual sex and not to hand them a card to have it anytime they want. This is my feelings anyway.

I hope you start feeling better so you can get back into school soon.

Hi Ada,
I know it is stupid with schools etc.
I totally agree, 11 year olds shold not be given birth control pills, that is just allowing them to have sex because they can't get pregnant which is just stupid - most 11 year olds are not having sex anyway!
I feel so sorry for your grandson, people should not pick on him just because of his surname, the teachers should not call him that either, it must upset him a lot. Send him my love
I agree Crayola will start banning certian colours lol. I bet people from another country/background pick on us but they don't get into trouble for it.
I hope things are looking better for you.
My pain is terrible today, I have not slept for 3 days now. Although I could only get to sleep for 2 hours before because of pain etc
Pain free hugs
Alison

Default Hi Ali,

You misunderstood what I was saying about the name. The principal's last name is Strubel and everyone calls him screwball including the teachers. When I talked to him, he was so rude and so nutty. I do feel that a lot of people have book knowledge and no book sense and he is one of those.

I know what you mean about the sleep. I just tried to lay down and take a nap and I can't even sleep in the daytime.

Are any of your meds helping your pain at all? I do think you need to find another Dr. Your Mother had mentioned it and I do think it's a good ideal.

Unfortunately Ada the world is going crazy with 'political correctness'
We are no longer allowed to have "Carol's Nights at the schools",The Nativity Play at Kindergarden, Easter Egg Hunts, Religious Instruction in school unless ALL religions are covered (crazy stuff seeing the school is 97% Christian)
I am totally respectful of the rights of every person to be able to celebrate which ever religion they choose, but I can not imagine any country where Islam, Judaism, Buddhism etc is the majority religion followed, that would cease all their Religious festivals so as to not "insult" those who are Christian.
Where will it end?
Love Tayla

Default Hi Debbie,

I sure got you on that soap box didn't I. You go girl.

I do vote. I haven't figured out who I will vote for but I have figured out who I won't. LOL

I get on that soap box all of the time. I think I sent you a copy of the email I just got from the Senator of Co. He actually wrote back to me. I won't go into what it was about here but I have become a fighter.

I see such ignorance around here in people who are in authorative positions. Again, I believe it goes back to book sense and no common sense. Daddy always said you had to have both.

You are right, it is up to the parents to teach their kids right from wrong. Unfortuntely around here I see so many parents so involved in work and their fun that they just throw their kids out to fend for themselves.

My caregiver was talking yesterday about what generation started the change. She is in her late 30's or early 40's and she said it was her generation. They came along in the hippy, drug, and don't care generation. I won't lie my daughter never did drugs but I see some of those don't care qualities in her. She is getting better but it's took her a long time. When both parents have to work it's as if our kids become latchkey and raise yourself kids.

I think in Susan's case, where I was really strict with her she is doing that thing called" I'm not going to be like my Mother thing." LOL Now she is seeing it didn't work. You have to know where you kids are at all times, not thinking you know. Another thing she won't stand up to these people in school and I will. At first it bothered her that I did, now she is ok with it. We have to stand up for what we know is right.

Then we have these idiots in the schools that want to be control freeks as someone said and don't even know right from wrong themselves. They just think what they think is right, no one else is. I think they have the ideal that they have the last say over our kids anymore. Well they don't, in my book.

As far as the colors, what happens when the gangs are wearing every color out there, then what? Same with religion, red, green, what colors come next associated with religion. I would say they all do in some form of religion.

MMoran, Dustin was taken to the office on the last day of school for protecting a little girl in the 6th grade that this 8th grade boy was actually going to beat up. A teacher took him in and the Asst. Principal said she would have done the same thing he did.

I agree on the coldness that is being brought into this world. I still hug my boys and kiss them on the cheek and I encourage them to treat people good. Devin as I said, is my hugger. He walked up to a little girl that's in his 7th grade class in Carls. Jr. and gave her a quick hug. Her Mom just smiled at me and went on. It's the schools making matters worse.

G'mornin Ada,

Yep, you got me on a soapbox, that's for sure

First we as Americans let them take prayer outa school, now we are allowing them to take affection out, before ya know it we will all be walking zombies dressed alike in a never ending line.

People in America truly need to wake up and vote and make changes, it will never happen until everyone does this. Not half, not a 1/3...but all.

I have taken my kids with me to vote since they were old enough to walk, and when they could reach the buttons I let them push for me. I have them watching debates with me, going to the local party headquarters. You name it. I have taught them this is their birth right, to vote and to make changes. They in return have talked to their friends etc...and have gotten some of them to register.

I think it should be like the boys who must register with civil service, that everyone upon their 18th birthday must register to vote.

We need to teach these kids how very important it is to vote. Instead of sitting back, not registered ourselves and complaing about everything.

My oldest daughter turns 18 on Jan. 12, 2008. She is beyond excited that she finally gets to go vote herself! Her application is filled out, stamped and layin by the front door, on her birthday she said she was taking it to the post office to mail herself. (I am more than proud of her for taking this step herself)

The color issue, is just ignorance. People really need to get over stuff, we are all citizens of the usa...what color we are, or aren't should not matter. We should all stand strong together instead of being so petty over stupid stuff.

Only in America....
