Confused RSD in the face and the dentist?

I have RSD in my face and mouth i did see your posting Kyzyl363... I was wondering what should i do about the dentist... I have 3 cavties this i know but what about getting them fixed i can barley handle my bfs breath on my skin on the right side of my face... and recently developed muscle spasms in my throat... Its hard to explain... But it hurts horriblely.... I am also afarid if i dont get them fixed they will become impacted and then have to sit through that.. I just dont know what to do... I am terrifed of the dentist in the first place and then just thinking about them opening your mouth for hours while they fix them i just can imagine it and i dont know if the dentist will understand what RSD is and how f 'ing bad it hurts.... no one ever understands...

Kyzyl363~ As far as the RSD in my face... It speard there rather quickly one day it was just neck arm and now its on the right side of my face under neath my eye.... Sometimes my eyelid swells up LOL and i look crazy... One eyed sea monster.... What i have been trying for the swelling i have is benedryl... Sounds crazy i know and makes you sleepy but it has helped tremendously (sp)..... RSD in the face really is the worse of it for me... my bf cant kiss me any more ... I can barley eat... I have to let things that are hot sit for 15 mins and things that are cold sit for 30 mins... It SUCKS! Thats all there is to say about it...

I was wondering does anyone have TMJ along with TOS and RSD??? The doc seems to think i have now developed that.... Great right... I just have jaw pain and it will pop and stick alot.... if anyone has some info and their experince on TMJ will you please let me know....

Thanks for listening to me rant a bit... sorry i havent been around i decied to stop taking meds... about month ago that WAS DUMB OF ME... Back on them and feeling much better....

HUgs and pain free days ahead!

Love J

Hi J. I don't have RSD in the facial area but I just wanted you to know that I am feeling your frustration. I am glad you went back on meds. Sometimes we just think we can be super women and than we take a nose dive. Its better to just stay equalized as much as possible.

I went to the Dr. yesterday for my physical and wanted to talk about the pain issues. I do have a pain Dr. but this was my pcp. She listened to me and than said I should be on prozac..I know a lot of people go on antidepressants to help with pain its just I hate it when they come to that right off the bat. I suggested some things to her but she really wanted me to talk that over with the pain dr. She was more than happy to prescribe the prozac though.

I know how frustration that can be... Doctors never explain things to you... They just shove pills down your throat... I guess when i went off the meds... i just didnt wanna be sick of being sick.. It was terrible... withdrawl was no fun...

Anti-deppresants... really have helped me quite alot... RSD is deppresing enough... and pain just adds to and everything else that happenes when you give up dreams friends, and everything else we all lost when this monster started....

I know you are right about the anti depressants. I had paxil before awhile ago when I had some issues with anxiety and they were helpful.
I am on the edge of losing things right now. I am finding limitations at work due to the condition. I have been pretty good at faking things up until now.

I gave the video for my boss to look at and she did. I met with her on one occasion about it and she said so how are they going to fix you? well I don't think that is going to happen unless remission comes about. I work with person's with disabilties and help them get jobs in the community. Well I have to also be a job coach so have to do the work alongside of them while they are training. Some of these jobs are in warehouses and its really cold and we have to stand for long periods of time on concrete floors. Not exactly conducive for our condition.

Well enough about me how is your mouth doing today? I hope you are finding some relief.

I know you dont want to hear this... As far as your job is concerned I am 22 and had to quite my job and file for social security.... it makes me so so so sad... PPL really do not understand what RSD is and the fact that the only way to fix us is by medicating us... There is no cure as far as i have read... My boss was very concerned... I kept pushing myself... But i think it cause more harm then helpful.. Thankgod for short term and long term disability.... I would be screwed with out it... I am sorry your boss kinda sounds insenstive... Hope all is well... My mouth is as it always is.. Painful and i hate it... worse part of the whole condtion... it being in my mouth... i guess its not the worse but it hurts so badly

Default Hi Jacqueline...

I have full-body RSD that started in my rt.foot. I too have it in my face and chest area, but not as extreme as you. I get a sunburned like feeling all over and when I cry, it feels like acid running down my cheeks. Everyone, including my dr's, thought I was crazy when I told them this. I also lock my jaw a lot, which I hear is related to RSD. I have a new symptom everyday sweetie, it stinks.

Plus, I just started taking Prozac 40mg. Not by choice, but I just had a baby and RSD has made me soooo emotional. I cry all the time over anything. It has really affected my life negatively.

Keep me posted on your situation. I am very interested and concerned for you on how it turns out. I wish you the best of luck hun!

I also wanted to tell you that I filed for SSD when I was 24. Don't feel bad. You have to do what you have to do. It's time to take some time off and start thinking about yourself and start focusing on getting yourself better.
