Hi,
I found an interesting site on HBOT. They sent me an email video with some good info on it. I'm trying to talk my son into doing it. He just had an RFA today (first time).
I wish you the very best.

Here's that site and phone numbers.

Hi Tayla,
I hope you are doing well today.
Can you please tell me, did the HBOT help? What kind of side affects did you have? Where did you have it done?

Sorry for so many questions.
Thank you,
Melody

I haven't posted here because I assume that everyone has read my posts on Buckwheat's thread; Vascular Issues, and didn't find anything useful in them.

You may not think I could possibly know enough to make the recommendations I did, but I hope you will believe me when I say that I've met people who told me that HBOT actually made them worse.

You've read my posts on OFRs (some people say they seem to make sense), and HBO increases the number of OFRs in your body. That's not good. I think it's why some people come out even worse after HBO.

I've been urging people to take grape seed extract during HBO for years, and I haven't yet heard from anyone who took it and then got worse.

I have read about others who got worse, but since I'm about the only one urging GSE, I don't think they could have ever heard about it.

Humor me, and buy some GSE...Vic

Here is the link to the "Vascular Issues" thread.
It has alot of very good HBOT information in it.

Hi Melody,

I had a problem with Oxygen toxicity with my first dive and had a seizure but I am prone to seizures so it is no surprise.
Yes it did help but as I said my treatment started a long way into my illness and I believe that the earlier the better for this treatment as with most.
The only other effect was general tiredness and boredom caused by sitting still for 2 hours.

Some people have sore ears if they don't learn how to equalise just as you do in an areoplane.
The staff will help you with this.
I have shared a chamber with many people who have RSD/CRPS and nobody reported any negative effects at all, infact most were very happy with the results.
I had mine done at the Hyperbaric Chamber of the Trauma centre of a major public hospital.
Wishing you luck

Hi All,
I forgot to mention i had an ear infection from the hyperbaric oxygen. If your ear did not pop or have pain, please tell the tech to go slowly. I had continious pain after the first few treatment and then i found out i had an ear infection.
Take care!

My daughter's pain responded to hyperbarics, achieving complete pain relief after 22 high pressure treatments. Through trial and error, we learned that her pain would resurface after about 6 - 8 weeks, so we have purchased a mild chamber for our home that has done a great job of keeping her pain under control.

Jenno,
Did you say you had purchased a mild chamber for your daughter to use at home? Can you operate the chamber on your own w/o a license? How much does it cost to purchase the chamber? I heard some one mention you can rent a chamber. Does your daughter's pain completely gone after using the chamber regulary? Can you use it on a ongoing basis?
Thanks!
Numb

Hi Numb,

My daughter first did high pressure treatments in a clinic. It took 22 of these treatments to stop her pain; but we found that it would come back every 6 to 8 weeks when they were discontinued. We would then return for boost treatments, with her pain resolving each time after only 3 (we would do 6 while there, since we had to travel 5 hours from home). This went on for many months (she did a total of 75 treatments) until we began to investigate our options.

We were not sure if the mild chambers would be sufficient as they are at a lower pressure than she had been receiving and it is not 100% oxygen. At the time she tried one out, her pain had returned; but thankfully it did in fact stop it, again within 3 treatments. We purchased a chamber, and it has done a remarkable job of keeping her pain away. Our chamber cost $18,500, and no you do not need a license to operate it in your home. You do, however, need a prescription to purchase. It has an oxygen concentrator (no oxygen tanks), so it is not 100% oxygen ... thus diminishing the concern of oxygen toixicity.

I sometimes wonder if a mild chamber would have stopped the pain initially or if it took the high pressure treatments to do that. Either way, we are just so thankful that we now have a way to help her. She too was very hypersensitive to medications so we were desperate to find other options. I did find a place that rents chambers, so if you would like further info on that I could try to find my notes.

Yes, you can use the mild chamber on an ongoing basis. My daughter gets in for about an hour most days; and she loves it. From what I have read, hyperbarics do not address RSD pain for everyone; but we are so thankful for what they do for our daughter. I guess the only way to know if they help, is to try them out. Although it did take 22 treatments to stop the pain, it was quickly apparent that her pain was responding ... if I remember right, within 6 treatments.

Hope this answers your questions, and don't hesitate to ask if you come up with others.

Jeanne
