I'd never go back to him but let's just hope he was having a real bad day. Even doctors are human but one would think an RSD doctor would know better.

The thing that doctors & lawyers both forget sometimes is that we HIRE them & we don't hire them to be mean ot nasty to us. They forget this & need reminded of this. They can be **** about forgeting who has hired who & who the hell pays them so they can pay their bills. GRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr proffessionals like this tick me off. Your Mom should have reminded this SOB of that..................but for the most part we are usually so shocked by such bad behavior we don't think to say much of anything.......

I figured this out when I was in somewhere in my 30's. So there have been a few times I have reminded either lawyers or doctors that I am the one who hired them & that they are working for me & if they want to continue working for me they do not need to talk down to me or mistreat me in any way. I have not once been told to leave & that they no longer would work for me. They have apologized. I have also reminded them that not only is their time important to them, that my time is worth something to me also, so if they are going to to be late etc, that they need to let me know so I can make adjustments also, by either making a different appointment or whatever adjustment I might need to make I can make it. When they are late because they do not start early enough, then that is not my fault. I do understand emergencies I truly do & do not hold that against any person I hire.

Anyway............I wanted to make my 2 cents known on this subject. The way this doctor treated you & your Mom was absolutely uncalled for. Whether he was having a bad day or not. People should not be allowed to treat people any darn way they want to just because they are having a bad day. When running an insurance office if I had treated any of our custormers badly just because I was having a bad day I would have been fired. But not only that, it is just not professional to do that.

You should most definitely complain to the office manager. This was so uncalled for.

Nikki,

I absolutely agree with Jo that you should file a formal complaint with the State medical licensing board (or whatever equivalent they have in South Carolina). Have your Mom get help from a legal aid group, or some consumer advocacy group if needed. Some hospitals do not take complaints as seriously as a State agency. Not always, but some will tend to defend their staff.

Be sure you are able to write down exactly what happened, and in what order. Do this as soon as possible while it is still fresh in your memory. It is amazing how even a short period of time will cause us to forget details.

You can do your part to keep this type of treatment from happening to others.

Good luck

Mike

Thanks guys

Yes, I am going to complain asap. It might take a few days bc of school work right now but I WILL get to it. Yeah, my mom wants to stick my crutch right up his . If a lawyer is necessary for whatever reason, my wonderful step aunt is a REALLY good lawyer and she said she would help out her niece whenever needed (prolly for free). Ill call first and see how it goes from there.

Thanks. hugs

nikki

<--lol, i like that one

Default This is a specialist of Pain Magmt???? No Way!

I am so sorry that you had to go through this awful experience. I too had a supposedly pain mgmt doctor who did basically the same thing that happened to you but also told me when he was 8 years old his dad ran over his foot and he is fine. I didn't realize it until afterwards but he was making fun of me because a car sat on my right foot and crushed it and I have full body RSD now. I told my insurance company I would never go back to him and I would never even take my cat to see him. I think you should report him to the state and American Medical Association. Funny thing...my doctor's last name was Schwartz too. His full name is Linden Matthew Schwartz, M.D. He was here in the Philadelphia, PA area. After his "thorough" medical exam (as the ins co said) I was in severe agony for 9 days and could not move out of my bed. It was horrible. They even lied to me and said he was a neurologist and I researched him on the Internet and found out he was a psychiatrist(PT doctor). I was so scared to go to another doctor after him and I still get scared of doctor's touching my sensitive body. You need a better doctor. Maybe someone is from your area on this site and can help you find a better doctor. Some of these pain mgmt doctors only want to hand out drugs and move on. They don't want to be involved with any long term patients such as RSD patients for fear of problems from the state. The laws are good but people that really need the pain medication for real pain are suffering. Best of luck to you and know there are better doctors out there.

wrong

he walked in and was kinda like whatever. then he asked me why exactly i was there to see him and what we expect him to do (nice greeting). yeah...anyways he was getting info and my mom showed him the binder she keeps that is organized w/ my rsd stuff. he sighed and said it would take awhile bc it was big and not organized correctly. what a pleasant man.

afte criticizing my mom a bit, he said put on a gown, i have other patients. you need the braces and socks off too. of course, we have to look around the room for the gown bc he never told us where it was.

he came like 20 minutes later. i kept my fuzzy socks on bc my feet get realy cold and i still had on my hand brace. he yelled and said "i told you to get dressed and take those off! you're wasting time!" i was like sorry, my feet get cold and you took awhile. he sighed and said lets hurry pleas. so i had to take them off and he grabbed the reflex hammer (grr) and said tell me if it hurts (...). he did one arm and i screamed and cried. then stupidly, he asked "did that hurt??" and i said cant you see that?! then he did the other arm and i did the same thing. he yelled and said "stop doing that!!!!!!!!!!!! how do you suppose im gonna get good results with you doing that??" i was like I CANT HELP IT! CANT YOU SEE THIS HURTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! then he said "you have to tell me if it hurts. otherwise i cant tell." i was like yes...it hurt. he said "it didnt look like it hurt as bad as the other arm. how do i know you arent faking it?" yahh, im a talented actress who can scream and cry on cue. YES, it hurts. then he said i need to cool off. this is gonna take awhile and i have other patients. obviously you dont want to get better if you arent letting me do the exam. then he left.

i told my mom i HATE him (and i have NEVER hated a person before until today). she said just try to give him a chance. right now, we really dont know what to do. i just cried and aid id try again, but i still hate him.

later on, he came back. he said "are you actually gonna cooperate and let me examen you?" i just rolled my eyes and said finish. he then yelled at my mom about her binder again. then he grabbed the hammer and did my right leg. that is where the rsd started so its worse there. he did it and i screamed and almost fell off the table. he said "was that worse? you need to tell me." (yahh, how do you expect me to just be like oww, yeah it was worse) i had to catch my breath. after a minute, i said yes. he was like "well, that didnt appear to be as bad as the other areas (even though i screamed and cried louder). what do you think (to my mom). thankfully she was like yeah, couldnt you hear her and see her? obviously it was worse. he was like "oh..well you need to speak up as soon as i hit you. yo know what. forget it. i give up. you arent cooperating. hit yourself and let me see if it hurts." i poked my leg and squirmed. "forget it. you are never going to get better. i dont know why i wasted my time with you. you and your mom are hopeless. why did you even come here to get treatment? what can i do?" i said ohh. i dunno...FINISH THE EXAM like my other drs did. then he lectured and said he treats pain and i am in pain and i want help but in the wrong way (??) and something about wasting his time and it thankfully not being a busy day or else it was a waste of time for him (what about me?!) and he cant help and he is one of the best drs (HA!!) and can treat pain. im never gonna recover. me and my mom are beyond help. im bright yet not bright (??). etc etc for like 20 minutes. i was SOOOO close to walking out of the room. i would have but i was on the table, my ankle brace was off, and he threw my crutches across the room. he finally said "you arent coming back here until you can control the way you act and arent in pain (ok, if i wasnt in pain i would be seeing him because...??). have a good day (sarcastically)." we left and i just looked at my mom and she broke down and felt awful. i comforted her. then we insultd him and called him some names on the way home. we felt better.

but he is one of the worst drs!!!!!!!!!! grr!!!!!

oh, and when i jumped when he touched me, he asked me if i had ever been molested or touched innapropriately. that is one of the rudest questions a dr can ask. i was like NO! he was like, then stop squirming!
