Default Afternoon from the West Coast!!!!!

Ok, I guess I should finally post huh??? Well I actually signed up for this forum hmmmmmmmm way back at the very beginning. No one had even posted except for Artist. And I just haven't posted until now either. Didn't really have anything to say that I had not already said *LOL* I was DebbyV so not a whole of difference than before in my name.

I have been mostly not on the computer this summer or fall. Sometimes just keeping up with email is more than I want to do. I don't know way but all the jokes & stuff lately well it clutters up my in-box & I just delete it without even reading it.

Can't say as I have been really depressed or anything, I just have enjoyed the last 2 seasons (Spring & Summer) by being outside as much as possible. I was out side so much during the 13 days of over 100dgs I got sick. Stupid huh??? But in one weekend we had a grandson's BD, a picnic the same day with family & the next day a picnic at my daughter-in-laws. All during the 100dg temp days. Talk about miserable. WHEW!!! But once that weather was over it was wonderful. I also have spent ALOT of time reading books. For fun not to improve myself, just for pure enjoyment. I think that is what has taken me away from the computer. I hadn't been able to read for so long due to an injury to my neck & head from a car wreck in 1991. Then I went back to work fulltime 7 yrs later, when I finally healed from that & I didn't have time to read, then from RSD I HURT too much to read. Well now that my pain is better controlled I can read & so totally enjoy it. Reading for the pure pleasure of reading has always been important to me. I grew up in Iowa on a family farm & there just wasn't a whole lot we got to do for entertainment. When young I played army, & cowboys & Indieans etc with my brother. Then when I got older, my older brother only wanted to hang with his friends so that left me with time on my hands. I bet I read the early Bobbsey Twins & Trixie Belden books over & over more than anyone else here. I Knew of no library to go to until I was in about the 5th grade, then I discovered the Woodbury County Library over in Moville, a town about 7 miles from our farm, which back then might as well have been 50 miles away for as often as I got to it. My Mom didn't drive so had to wait until my Dad was able to take time to take me or catch a ride with someone. Which alot of the time was with one of my Grandma's. Anyway during the school year the school library & county book mobile sufficed but once school was out I couldn't use it anymore until the fall. Anyway books were my way of escaping the boring life of growing up on a farm & from reading so much I probably had one of the largest vocabularies around. Anyway I was able to go back to reading this year & I fell in love with it all over again. So that is where I have been most of the time. I have also been able to keep my house a bit cleaner than before. I still have one room to get thru though. I bet the shelves in there haven't been dusted in well, forever *LOL*

Anyway typing this much has set my hands off into burning. Which they haven't felt like this since, well maybe a year ago or less by a few months. But had heard a few people had been asking about what had happened to DebbyV, well I am here, just not very often anymore.

Take care & wishing all as pain free days as is possible.

Love ya's
DebbyV

Default Hi Debby!

There you are!
Very glad to know you're doing OK, you know where to find us and you're catching up on the reading....yes, reading is a joy and, these days, a treat. I have to limit my reading because, if I get a book I really like, I'm liable to cancel the rest of life just to finish the book...totally one-track minded! LOL

Well, with so many Debs on the forum it's good to know which one you are ...and really good to see you back with us, don't be a stranger - but, you know, whenever...

Take care and all the best.

Default still me

I was either daylily or daylilyfan over there.... I use one or the other name everywhere I sign on. I think it was daylilyfan... topomax moments you know!

So glad to have found you all again. Being a relative newcomer (summer 2005) to the group, but still feeling a part of it - I sure missed it when it was not there!

I was not listed on the Christmas Card listing - so had no way of knowing any one was here until the old BT showed up again and someone posted about this forum.

Question

I was Sage836 before.

I'm not up to speed - what happened that caused this new board to take over -tho I notice the old board is still there?

Hi Sage,

Well, you found us, that is great. Basically the old board went down for 3 months over the summer, with no updates. We were offered this site by the good-hearted DocJohn...and seem to have kinda stayed, although many people post between the 2 forums.

If you go back to the early pages in Forum Feedback on this site (most of the relevant threads in FF at the hastypastry site have been deleted by mods I think..) you can read the history (be warned, it is quite a long and painful read!)...but that is it in a nutshell...

Amazingly, nearly everyone seems to have found us and this is a really wonderful board. So glad you joined the gang

all the best..

Smile Hi! It's Me, and I am still ME! LOL

Hi!

I used to be Joselita...and I still am! LOL

I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't gone by that screen name. I have been being Joselita in some form or fashion on the net for about 1/3 of my life so far. Yikes, when I think about it like that. ROFL

Sage Sweetie...I am soooooo glad to see you here! You have been missed! I am so very happy that you found your way here to our new home.

Sage...Instead of having to go and read all of that...erm....stuff....that lots of very unhappy, upset, lost, sad, and some down right angry people wrote back a while ago when BT crashed and stayed crashed for so long....you can go here: [Catch-Up Post Link], and read a sort of summary that I wrote for KathyWP when she came on and was wondering what the crap went on, too. LOL, if that makes any sense? First, if that sentence makes sense...and then just the thought that I (of all people! LOL) am summarizing anything! LOL, I know, I know...but I really did. Much shorter, and easier, and MUCH less painful to read then going through all of the old forum feedback stuff.

If however you still want to do that...look for closed threads. There got to be so many going on at one time, that DocJohn said there could only be ONE thread going on about BT (aka OBT or Original Brain Talk, since this place used to be called "Braintalk 2"). So, look for closed threads, and titles of threads that say something about "BT" in them. WARNING, though....there is LOTS of hurt feelings, and fighting among the members of the different sides of the schism that has occurred.

Anyway..I wanted to let you know how HAPPY I am that you found us here. I am so glad! I hope that you like this new place as much as I (and lots of others, it seems...LOL) do. It is a very nice place. Very laid back, and I really like DocJohn (owner or #1 person), KimmieDawn (admin or #2 person), and ALL of the mods! Have you noticed that our VERY OWN Mod is none other than the Famous ZombieSlayer? Cool, huh? We have our own resident Techno/Computer Geek/Nerd (No offense meant at all...at BrainTalk he STILL IS a "Braintalk Nerd", afterall! LOL) right here on our board! We just have to get him to TALK, as he has been pretty quiet..... But Curious (another Mod) pops in from time to time too, and always has something nice; either hugs, or CHOCOLATE! ROFL.

OK...I am babbling, so it is time to go. LOL I hope that my link to that "Summary" helps.

Love and ((Hugs))
Jose

PS Link takes you to Kathy's thread. You have to scroll down to find my post. Sorry..I have never figured out how to post links to JUST a certain post within a thread....

i'm doing alright... i just got back from a cruise to italy and greece... its so what i needed! but when i got back home the weather had started to turn chilly so my pain has gone up... maybe i should go back! lets see.... i'm no longer being seen at stanford, my insurance changed and they pretty much booted me out of the pain program, so i'm seeing a local pm here who has continued my oral ketamine, it helps when i take it but i do get rather... intoxicated when i take it. sometimes i feel like i'm drunk, i space out a lot, get side tracked easily, if i close my eyes sometimes i still feel like they're open but i'm in like another place.. its really weird. and then when my eyes are closed i sometimes feel like i'm floating.. i dunno its weird. i had my stim removed in july... that went very well. i was out at my friend's show like 4 days after, granted it was at a roller rink so it wasn't like i couldn't sit and there weren't like people banging into me. my pm now is trying cold laser treatment on me... its not really doing anything but getting my arm warm... its supposed to have the same effects as blocks... but i had no relief from the blocks so i dunno... i'm back assisting in dance classes. as much as i can. i go to court this thursday for disability. so keep your fingers crossed!!! other then that, i mostly go to my friends' shows and take pictures.... i'm glad to be back in cali that's for sure. the town i live in is in santa cruz county, its like 10 miles from santa cruz... but nobody ever knows where it is so i just say santa cruz!
