Has anyone taken Clonidine for a while and then went off?
I am just not sleeping much at all, and I am very anxious. I've been taking it for over 10 years, but am surprised by the adverse impacts. I reduced over a 3 week period. Mark |

hello Mark
I have also copied your post over to the medications forum as others there may have input for you my husband was on clonidine for his Tourette tics and high blood pressure and being on it was not a good experience for him...actually brought about a form of psychosis. The Doc took him off it quite rapidly IMO but he seemed to do ok failry soon after its withdrawal. It did also give him heightened anxiety initially tho here is the link to your post on the Medications Forum here at NeuroTalk so you can also check there for replies http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=42239 all the best Cheri

Many Thanks.
I have been told that I am experiencing manopause. I went on it for pain at the same time the docs were throwing me on everything. I never thought it did anything for the pain. I now know I was right. Plus, I have the entire night to think about my brilliance. And, I can cry about it on and off command. I was told it was manopause after saying I just went off on some people this morning. I was ask if I felt horribly about doing it, and I responded, "No, I really enjoyed it." Now, I'm crying about doing it ![]() Mark |

Hi Mark!
Sorry this took so long to respond .. . haven't been on here in a while. I was on clonidine when I was younger. I was 17 and had RSD for a while by that point- 5 years, and it was helping with skin sensitivity- I wore the patch form of it. But I was very small and already had low blood pressure and would occasionally pass out. My parents were convinced I was going to pass out behind the wheel of my car. So they said car keys or patch. I gave up the patch. (I was 17!) My doctor didn't tell me to wean off of it, so I just took it off one morning. By that afternoon my pulse was up to over 200 and I was in the ER. Youngest almost heart attack they'd seen in my little town. That's been my worst experience with any med, ever. I credit my boyfriend at the time with making me go to the hospital. I was just like, no I'll be fine, I just feel a little funny. So wean down! Hope you feel better by this point. Linnie |
