Angry Vent Time!!

Okay here goes! Wednesday I had a Dr's Appt. Now I was not scheduled to see her until the 19th of May. The last time before that was the 10th of March. However, she put me on Lyrica 2 months ago and had increased it at my last visit and it wasn't working...(making me sick).

So! I got in early on a cancellation. I walk in and the first thing she says to me is - WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE???!!!! If you keep coming by my office every time I turn around the insurance company isn't going to pay. HA??? So! She has now set the tone for the visit. She says "MAKE IT QUICK"! I looked at her and very politiely and calmly asker her if this was a free visit? She was quick to say NO! and wanted to know why I asked? I simply told her that she was acting like it was.

Now I am about a minute into the visit and I am in the middle of explaining why I was feeling sooo bad. She quickly says to me SHUT UP!!!! I need to concentrate on this paperwork I'm doing (and it wasn't mine).

Oh No You Didn't!!!! That was the only thought going through my mind at that moment. So I looked at her and said - "Dr. Bla Bla, I get the sneaking suspicion that you have forgotten that the only (and I do stress ONLY) relationship we have is Dr. and Patient. And for you to talk to me like I am your child or someone in your life you are accustomed to belitteling and talking to disrespectfully - you are seriously mistaken"!!

She than proceeded to tell me that if I didn't spend so much time on my RSD Forum - that I wouldn't be acting like a hypocondriac!!! And I wouldn't be banging on her door every 5 minutes. (Keep in mind I have ONE visit with her every 5 months and this was the first time I broke tradition). I know what you all are thinking - you folks are such a bad influence on me. Tsk Tsk!

So the rest of the 4 minute appointment (or at least it felt like 4 minutes) we said nothing to each other except for her taking the time to explain to me that I am going off the Lyrica and onto another drug!

Well at this point I'm thinking "Get Me To H*ll Out Of Here"!!!

So yesterday I decided that after 5 years with this person that this was enough. So I cancelled my future appointments and I will not be seeing her again. So now I am doctorless and quite frankly I'm not as upset as I thought I would be, and she can "GO POUND SAND"!!!!

WOW!!! I feel so good just getting that out of my system.

So that is it in a nut shell! So how was your week??????

Chin Up!! Mark

Wow talk about a RUDE dr!
Geez they are the ones making the money for a service of providing care.

I have never had a dr talk to me like that - I don't think anyone has ever talked like that to me. Unless we're joking around

I decided awhile ago to not mention "forums" to anyone especially to drs or such.

I think it was a good time to quit that one.

Default Hi Mark,

It's too bad that she treated you this way. I do hope you find another Dr. soon that will give you the respect you deserve. I don't mention the forum to any Drs. I have.

My thought is on this is that they feel like if they are not doing us any good and they get frustrated then they turn it around and make it about us. So blaming us for being on the internet and picking up on things is the excuse they will use.

My PA said last week that she would like to see Drs. give patients a better quality of life since they are living longer these days instead of just trying to keep them alive.

As I told her, I feel like nowadays Drs. are seeing so many people that are permanently ill that it's became a thing of normalcy to them. In other words, it's normal for us to be in the shape we are in because so many are. They have become more laid back with their medical care.

I have ran into a Dr. or two like that. One was at the U of C. My caregiver was with me and we both wrote letters about how he treated me.

I ran into one similar last Wed. Another thing since their insurance has gone up so high, they are so reluctant to do anything for anyone and with having to answer for giving hard core drugs so much anymore doesn't help how the patient is getting treated.

I do hope you find a good Dr. that will help you and after you get one lined up, I would write this lady Dr. a letter about how you felt about how she treated you. I would wait until you get another Dr. though, due to your records being sent to them. She might blackball you or put the letter in the file that goes out to your new Dr. I think they need to know how they are treating the patient when they are in the wrong.

Don't stress too much over this. I know it's hard not to but you don't want to get in a total flare due to it.

Have a good day.

Ada

WOW!!! Good one Mark!

These darn doctors..........we hire them don't they know that??? I guess they forget or just don't care when they are fired or not. They don't care cause there are so many who need a doctor we are just replaced immediately. Of course probably not with a Medicare patient or Medicaid patient. So many are no longer open to Medicare patients unless they have a supplement policy to pick up what Medicare won't pay. I hate interviewing new doctors. I really do but I have had occassion to fire one now & then too. And after they have treated me as badly as this gal treated you it is refreshing to fire them, especially if it is to their face. *LOL* But it always feels good to remove something that just causes us additional stress that we do not need.

Alot of lawyers act this way also. And again they need to figure out that we actually hired them & we can actually fire them too. errrrrrrrr I hate professionals that think they are so much better than we are. Well excuse me is all I can say...................they can go be mean to someone else cause I won't take it from them.

Well I have one of my grandsons this weeken so must go finish throwing some dinner together for him. He wants top ramen. Real hard huh? This kid should be on vitamins cause he is such a darn picky eater I could cook a 7 course dinner & be lucky if ate any of it *LOL* including dessert. He is even picky over dessert. He is my oldest & will be 7 in June. I really need to change the picture as that is when he was 5 I believe.

Good luck finding a new doctor & hoepfully a much better one.

Talking Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all. Little words of encouragement or reassurance are so nice. You all are right about not telling doctors too much. LESSON WELL LEARNED!!!!

You would think they would encourage us to talk to others in the same boat, WRONG!!!

Come hell or highwater - I'm not quitting my friends here.

Thanks again, Chin Up Mark

Hi. Oh my I thought I saw some nasty ones. I know it is stressful to start with a new doc but this one was horrible. I would call the hospital this person has resedency with and file a written complaint. Really there was a better way for her to talk to you and to me this sounds abusive. I am not asking her to be your friend but I am asking that everyone gets respect. Some of these docs need to get off their high horse and remember there suppose to help people. You know in most jobs like a secretary or sales person if you spoke to a prson that way you would get fired but basically docs can say anything almost and get away with it. I am truly sorry.

I agree with what the others said. You definitely should not go back there! Since you live in Maine there may be someone that RSDhope.org can recommend. I found that pain docs get very mad when the patient knows more about RSD then they do. The last doc I saw didnt believe I have RSD- I was crying because I was sooo frustrated. The RSD has now spread into my right eye and I am just so depressed!

GOOD LUCK FINDING A NEW DOC

wow!......good for u, mark!......sometimes no doctor is better than a bad doctor and she sounds like a REALLY bad one......a doc like that doesn't deserve patients....what she does deserve is to be horsewhipped or maybe to have RSD for a month or so (your choice!).

i hope things improve for u.
