Default Having surgery on Dec. 1st.

I saw the Surgeon today and I'm sat up for the first. I told him I'd let him do it Thanksgiving day if he couldn't do it tomorrow. LOL. He said he would actually but he will be out of town.

He's going to do a Laproscopy where he will make 3 cuts and he said if it was something he could take care of he would but if it was something a Gyno needed to do he was calling in mine. He would have him on standby for that day.

I like this surgeon, he's only been here for about 2 years but after being to the other 2 in town, I know he is the lesser of 3 evils.

I don't know about a block yet, the hospital has a new administration so I'm hoping blocks are on their agenda now. They never were before. I have to have it done anyway. If I have to, I will have triggerpoint injections later on down the line.

Anyway, just wanted to fill you in. I have my boys tonight so I can't stay on here long. They eat the whole time they are here and I need to help them with what little homework I know how to do. LOL

Ada,

I am glad you feel you have picked the lesser of 3 evils *LOL* Sure hope he or your gyno can fix what needs fixing for sure. You finally sound like you have some hope. My PM Doctor talked with my surgeon before I had back surgery almost a year ago to the date here. Was done on the 16th of last Nov. Anyway then during the whole surgery (of 6 hours), he, Dr W AND the anesthesiologist talked via phone throughout the whole 6 hours of surgery. They did something with Ketamine, thinking they bathed my body with it or did an infusion of it the whole time I was under. I know my spine surgeon still atrtibutes the fact that RSD DID NOT spread in my body due to the Ketamine they used during surgery & the open communication between all 3 of these doctors. I just saw him yesterday due to he is going to treat my husband now. Jack will have new MRI's done & then he will go from there. But what he could tell from the old MRI's he said he is pretty sure he can help my husband with surgery. Some of it will be similar to the surgery I had done. Only without the Ketamine thrown into the mix as Jack doesn't have RSD anywhere. Dr O said whoever looked at Jack's previous MRI's should have done surgery back then in '01 as he had a herniated disc then & the doctor he was seeing then should have been able to have helped Jack back then. It ticks me off about that other doctor. I am going to find out that guy's name & maybe send him a nasty letter. When Jack went to this doctor I was working & wasn't able to go with him. Dr O talked to me about the book I had with me yesterday when we were at his office. He & I both read SciFi Fantasy novels such as Robert Jordon & Terry Brooks write.

Anyway what the whole smooze about the above is you might want to see if your PM Doc will talk with your surgeon about using Ketamine during surgery so that you have no spread of RSD or atleast a less likely chance of spread because of using Ketamine during surgery. It is a thought. My back surgeon actually wanted any ideas I might have even so that I would have little or NO spread of RSD. And I had no spread of RSD due to surgery either. I know you don't have much time between now & 12/1 but it is worth a shot. Dr O wouldn't even take bone out of my hip for the bone graft he did in my spine. He used bone scrapings from where he opened up the openings where the nerves come out of the spine. I think I am going on & on again *LOL* Jose & I joke between ourselves about how "windy" we both can get. *chuckling*

Anyway you truly do sound as though you have lots of HOPE again now that you will be having surgery on 12/1. Everyone wil be certainly be sending good thoughts & prayers that day for you. To finally know you will be having some relief in the near future really can effect how we feel & come across on here.

DebbyV

ps, Mark I won't join you in surgery but maybe in recovery...........*G*

Hi Ada,
I am soo sorry to hear you are going thru this horrid stuff. I hope they get to the root problem. I hope and pray you will have a speedy recovery as well.

I think it's wonderful Bill has hobbies. I have always tried, for my husband to have just one hobby. But no luck. I hope your day is full of love. Roz

Default Dear Dear Mark,

Luckily I will be half out of it when I have the surgery so the only people you might run out of the operating room would be the Docs and the Nurses. LOL
It would be a good ideal for you to be in there with me to make sure they don't leave anything behind, I'm always afraid of that part. As many surgeries as I have had this might just be the one for you to be in there with me for that very reason. My favorite color is blue, could we have blue jello. Everyone CAN come we'll have a swimming party in the jello afterwards. It will make the end of a bad day go good. LOL

Debby, thanks for the advice on the ketamine. I will talk to this Dr. about that, as I told you this hospital I will be in is known as the worst hospital in Co. People change the last name of it to Morgue instead of Moore when they talk about it.

The only reason I am ok with it is because my PCP is going to assist in my surgery and I do trust this Gyno. We had such a laugh out of the last surgery he did on me. It went ok but while I was in this hospital they overdosed me with Methadone, that part wasn't funny, but they called my PCP and he spent the day with me until he got me straightened up and then the next morning on a Sunday he sent his partner down to sign me out. My next appt. with my Gyno was hysterical. When he went in to check on me I was gone. He said he'd never had a patient kidnapped from him before. We had a good laugh over that one.

My thought is if they won't do a block nor ketamine in there I will get my PCP to do some ketamine injections after I heal some from the surgery. He has done many of those on me before.

What's with you Debby, can't you stand the sight of blood or is it that you can't carry a tune. LOL

Roz, Bill and I have been married 34 years, they have been hard because of both of us being disabled early on in our marriage but we have been blessed in other ways.

He loves hunting, fishing, antiqueing, and he plays games with the boys. He took over their care when I was at my worst. I got sick when they were 1 and the other one born. I call them my boys but they are my Grandson's. They each have a room here and they spend 2 nights a week with us. They are what keeps us going. Susan, our daughter is my caregiver so she's very much a part of our life and we have a son-in-law that I just couldn't say enough good about so that's been good. It is funny though he calls over here everyonce in awhile to check on the boys and he ask me if all 3 of the boys are behaving. He says Bill is a bad influence on the boys. LOL

It is good for them to have hobbies though Roz, it gets them out of our hair everyonce in awhile. I had some peaceful days while they were gone hunting. LOL

Thank you all for your support and I will expect all of you there with me on the first.

Ada

Smile LALALALALLALALAL uhhuhhuhh clearing throat *LOL*

Ada,
Well I use to sing beautifully. I sang in church choir & I sany solo's in church. And every one would go congratulate my Grandma on beautifully your granddaughter sings. She could have a career. Then starting in Jr Hi I was given free voice lessons by our choir instructor at school. She continued them all the way thru HS too. I also was the only freshman to get into Swing Choir & was in it all thru the 4 yrs of HS. I went to Contest in Swing Choir, sextet, choir & solo's. We always got "EXCELLENT" in the groups (even when we didn't always know the songs!! Our Senior yr not one of us really knew the song well *LOL* but we still managed to bring in a I Excellent score *ROFL* Our instructor was SHOCKED. She could not believe we pulled it off. Boy could we harmonize. It was the same 6 in sextet all 4 yrs of HS until I was a SR. The girls who graduated the year before we had to replace & we still pulled it off. It seemed our practices always conincided against sports or something so we kept missing practices but we were GOOD. Not bragging just fact *LOL*) I also got Excellent in my solo's too. I think I could have been a singer if I had only prusued it. But I could not read music well. I could look at the note & sing it, but could not tell you if it was an A or C. I knew what a flat was or a shartp all that type of stuff. Anyway over the years & after the last bad car accident in 1991, well I can't sing a note. I had whiplash so badly from it & I was disabled due to whiplash. Since then I can't sing for anything so sorry....................*LOL* I won't be singing for you any time soon or anyone for that matter. I do miss being able to sing....alot. My kids use to beg, "MOM pleasssssssssseeee sing for us", since '91 they holler "MOM plllleeeaassssssseeee stop!!!" so there ya have it.........I just can't sing.

Our neighbor was in Hawaii on Maui visiting her son & his fiance. They live their long with some Aunts & Uncles & she brought back a box of chocolate covered carmel with Macademia nuts. I just wish I liked nuts *LOL* But my hubby does so he will enjoy them. I wasn't going to tell her I didn't like them, but my darn husband told her. YIKES!! I didn't want to hurt her feelings. Thankfully it didn't, but she felt bad that I won't enjoy them. We have been keeping an eye on her house next door. She had a heartattack last spring & she is also in the process of remodeling her house eventually so it is all packed up & she has been living with her boyfriend. But she is a pretty good friend too. She stops by & we sit on the proch with our pepsi's & have a smoke. Yah yah yah, she knows she shouldn't but she does. And I know I shouldn't either, but I now take 3 days to even come close to smoking a pack & a year ago I smoked almost 2 packs a day. So that is better. And we don't smoke in the house at all ever. When it gets colder in Jan. I plan on throwing them out again. I did it last year, but with my hubby smoking *shrugging* it gets really hard to not want one. My will power isn't what it was when young I guess *LOL*

Anyway here I went again & yakked wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much *giggling* again...........

So I hope you do get to have the Ketamine however your doc's deem it to be best done for you.

DebbyV

ps Ada, hey I have 3 grandson's & I refer to them as my boys here around the house too *LOL* and yes sometimes I have a 4th one.......my hubby, Jack *LOL* Only I am the bad influence. Papa makes em behave more than I do *LOL* They are good little ones tho..........really they are

Hi Ya Ada, I sure hope your surgery goes well. It sounds like a lof of fun swimming in blue jello..LOL So Mark I hope you have plenty.. I can pitch in and bring some if I need to..ROFL.. I guess since Mark doesn't want to be in on the surgery now then I'll have to make sure they don't leave anything in my pal. You know Ada that has always been a fear of mine also. You hear about it all of the time, so it is scary..

I agree that you should make sure they do some type of block to help keep the RSD from spreading, and I hope the Dr is smart enough to know that.

I will call you this weekend, and then I'll call Bill after your surgery so I can get an update. Since it is Laproscopic will you be having it as outpatient? I have had 3 laproscopic surgeries, and the gas they use hurt worse that the surgery..LOL

Take care and I'll be praying for you..

Love ya,
Janet
