A very close friend has two brain stim implants... he has parkinson's. Answer to one of your questions... they shaved a small portion of his hair but it grew back in no time.

I don't know how it will affect the RSD.

My friend could barely walk, shook all the time, had trouble eating, talking, and many other problems... HE IS NOW SUPERMAN!!! He's doing GREAT with little to no side effects. Many of his symptoms from parkinson's are now minimal.
