Last night I was in soooo much pain that I was passing out. So, my boyfried carried me to the car & took me to the ER. I was also having a lot of trouble breathing. After having to wait awhile there with everyone staring at me, they took me back. THey gave me an IV with Ativan & Dilaudid. THey also gave me Dilaudid to take home with me. I reallly hope tonight isnt as rough because the last month has been a really painful one.

I am so sorry and i hope tonight is ok well of course better. Do you have a doctor pain or neuro who follows up with you. Can you call them cause this sounds like an emergency basis when you pass out from pain and ER often does not help as much as needed? If you do not have a pain doctor following your condition I would look into that ASAP. Sending many thoughts

I anymore no matter how bad the pain is do not go to the ER as the hospital around here is filled with asshole doctors which have no clue what RSD is and no idea of what to do. The stress and trouble i get from the ER just makes everything worse. And there little things they try are nothing to the meds i am on so i don't bother with them anymore. Methadone & Oxycontin you really can't get any higher than that combination. I was on dilaudid the 2mg pills and than the top 4mg pills as well neither worked and i was on dilaudid for good while. But if it helps you than that is good and am happy for you. The harder part for me is most of mine has gone internal and trying to explain RSD and having internal to people that don't understand at all just goes way over there head of even understanding, that's one part it miss about mostly external at least than you had color and sensitivity to show them with internal its a 360degree angle to look at from external. Hope you are starting to feel better and wish you all the best.

Hi Firegirl,
Sorry you are in so much pain. I have a neurologist that understands RSD. He is also a psychiatrist-that's why I decided to go to him. I was in my 8th year of RSD and needed help from a good Dr. and someone to help me adjust to this beast. He also had a degree in pharmacology, so I have been going to him once a month for 5 years. I have learned a lot about RSD from him. One thing besides the pain, is it's an autonomic disorder. That means involuntary organs like the heart, lungs, bladder, etc are affected. Our circulation, our blood pressure. our body temperature are affected. One reason we sweat so much. Burn and then get ice cold. I have both high blood pressure -caused by the sympathetic nervous system and low blood pressure caused by the para sympathetic nervous system. One morning I work up and stumbled into the wall and door and passed out. I knew I was passing out. Was out over an hour, maybe hour and half. I couldn't get up, but got my husbands attention to call 911. My blood pressure was 60/40-caused the passing out. Also, when the pain goes high like you, I feel like passing out, but haven't.I have a monitor now and keep track of my pressure. I also learned anti-depressants help with nerve pain. Also anti-seizure meds help with nerve pain. Are you on any of these. Many Drs. use them, to help control the pain. I also take ativan-anti-anxiety med that calms the sympathetic nervous system down. Hope you get your pain under control-I know it's miserable. It's so important to be on the right meds to be able to have a life free of tortureous pain. And we can't sleep when we are in so much pain. Hope the best for you. Your friend, loretta Let us know how you are doing please. |
