I think this is the same site that I posted back before Thanksgiving this year.
It is the best site. This is the first year I haven't had a nephew over there over the holidays. I am so thankful for that & that they came home whole of body if not of mind. One of them will be going back in March in 2007 ![]() DebbyV ps thanks to whoever put the ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Condor,
I hope I never get desensitized to the point that I forget what is going on with our troops. Thank you for keeping it alive so that I don't ever forget. I have 2 sons, 23 and 31. I cannot even fathom what it would be like to have a child in active war. At their ages I still worry about all sorts of things that could take them from me. So there is no way that I can say "I know how you feel" to any parent/husband/wife/ who has someone in the battle. I can only pray for them any time I think about the war or hear about it, and the times when I need to not think about "ME". Thanks for reminding me of what could be any person's worse nightmare in life. Losing my life is not frightening to me, losing those I love is. Judy |

My son was in the first Gulf War, and even though I was certain the Iraqi Army was not an effective fighting force I spent an unbearable 96 hours until it ended. I can't imagine my sons or daughters being in that place fighting that kind of "war". I know it would dominate my life.
I believe anything that would brighten a soldier or Marine's day, even for just a moment, is a good thing, but I have a suggestion for those who can afford as little as $5.00; knowing even as I write that not all of us has that much left at the end of the month: Joe Scarborough (Scarborough Country, MSNBC, 8PM CST) is encouraging listeners to donate money to an organization that sends phone cards to troops in Iraq, Our soldiers are paid so little; if they are married and have children, their families are forced to apply for Food Stamps. A phone card that would allow them to call mom and dad or wife and kids might be the best Christmas gift anyone could give them. It's the weekend now so I won't be able to get website or contact info until Monday night. When I get it I will add it to this post. (Mods; I never read TOS or assembly instructions, so if I broke a rule I will understand if you have to delete the commercial. You will be sent to Hell, of course, which is good and proper, but I will understand)...Vic uso.org/joe . . . . . .1-800-USA-SHOW Last edited by Vicc; 12-19-2006 at 08:20 PM. |

What a terrific thing..I cannot imagine one of my boys being over in Iraq. The constant worry that the soldiers families go through everyday has to be horrible. My oldest son called me Tuesday night and he told me that one of his closest friends was wanting to join in January, and my son said he would like to join as well when he graduates college in May. I pray he changes his mind. They have talked to recruiters and they have made it sound like they will be given so much money and of course it looks good to them. I admire the men and women that do serve for their country, but as a mother I just can't stand the thought of my son joining. I know it may be selfish and I apologize for that, but it is a feeling I can't help.
God Bless Our Troops. Vic, thanks for letting us know about the phone card thing, and please do post the info when you get it. That will be a great thing and I want to do it. Love to all, Janet |
