a better report today

Our dear family friend is such a fighter. And I just can't help but think she is able to pray and communicate with God during this horrible, horrible time. She is still in a coma. However, the latest mri gives the doctors more hope.

We are praying specifically for the swelling near her brain stem to go down and for her temperature to drop. You have all been so wonderful to remember her in your prayers. I will not give up hope. I am still praying and expecting God's healing hands to bring recovery. Our God is an awesome God.

Thank you for continued prayers.:grouphug:

Update...

Many praises today. The Peg and Trach were both successfully completed without complications. No change in responsiveness. However, she is opening eyes both spontaneously and to pain--but still nothing with the arms and legs. They are really not having to drain any fluids. The doctor said they will probably take out the catheter in her brain in a couple of days.

Thank God for baby steps...each day is a day closer to a recovery. :)

Praise the Lord!!!

My sister just sent me this wonderful update:

The RN tested her responsiveness this evening, and when she inflicted a little pain on her left hand, she raised her thumb. And when she inflicted pain on her right hand, she turned her head towards the right. She has remained off sedation since the surgery this afternoon. Her blood pressure and ICP levels look good. They will not start sedatives unless these numbers become alarming. She is opening her eyes about ¾ of the way now spontaneously. She looks so much more comfortable without all the tubes on her face.

This is definitely more praises to God!!! Thank you for your prayers.

Friday

Of course, it is still wait and see--but lots of improvements. Her blood pressure and ICP levels are still good. She has not been sedated since surgery yesterday. Her eyes are open and they think it is purposeful, but she is not looking around and really no reaction when waving hands in front of her face. So that is unclear at this point.

She has continued to show a little improvement as a result of inflicting pain. She has started moving her shoulders just a little bit. She is not retracting her arms and legs like they want to see. She is completely off of all medications through the IV. Her coma level has moved from 4 to 7-8. It was 4 Wed. The average person at at a 15.

:grouphug: Prayers are being answered. Thank you all!

Thank you so much! My sister sent me this update tonight:

"She responded to pain on both sides of her body today. Also, she is pretty much breathing on her own without the help of the ventilator. If this continues, they hope to try her some time tomorrow without the vent. Of course, she still has the trach--so they can hook it back up tomorrow if they need to. Still no fever."

We are so thankful for all the prayers.

A miracle is in progress...

The medical team had all but written her off and were ready to call in hospice...But our dear friend has so many people praying for her. We are convinced that God his letting us know that she is still with us and is not giving up.

Today when her daughter and one of the doctors were in her room, she kept moving her foot. It was apparent even under the covers. She did not appear in pain. She is trying to get there attention.

and later when her daughter told her "Ilove you"....she told her mother to raise her eyebrows to tell her "I love you" back. Her face was visibly determine and her eyebrows raised ever so slightly, but they DID raise.

Today was the first time she made movements without physical stimulation.

Praise the Lord! We are so hopeful right now. Thank you all so much for your prayers. Please Please continue. Our wonderful God does hear them. :grouphug:
