The critical 72 hrs. after his surgery have passed! His surgery has proved more serious than his initial injury. Doctors aren't planning to try anything else 'til Mon. He remains in stable/critical condition. His family is completely worn out.
I'll keep you updated if things change. Thanks so much for praying!

Jack was taken off sedation meds yesterday. There was some response - he opened an eye and said "yeah" in response to a question. He squeezed his parents' hands in response as well. The doctors were able to remove his breathing tube. Some definite positives!
Last night, Jack seemed to be in a lot of pain. His mind and body don't seem to be making all the connections they need to today. Doctors gave him a feeding tube this afternoon (They had successfully removed it yesterday.). Sorry for the vagueness - I'm not up on medical jargon! Thanks so much for your prayers - Jack's parents say that at times they can literally feel the prayers of God's people carrying them through!

Just had to share this latest update from Jack's mom...
"This is the most thankful mommy and daddy in the world right now, reporting from the hospital! We just saw the most beautiful artwork in the WHOLE WORLD! Our little boy who had 20% chance of ever waking up, and who has basically died twice, just WROTE HIS NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;) and drew a snowman I was so excited, I even did a jumping jack for him so he could see how excited I was, and John [Jack's dad] ran out the door to see if the neurosurgeon was still here to show him! We asked God for a miracle today, and some reassurance that Jack was "in there" (along with all of you) and he gave it to us! God is awesome! To God be all the glory for this HUGE REASSURANCE today!!!!!! Praising God at St. Mary's" Thanks so much for joining with this family in prayer!

Jack is starting to speak and eat! He even laughed once. The latest scans show that his brain is continuing to heal.
Please pray for continued improvement. He is starting to experience bad headaches. He also has one eyelid that is paralyzed from the pressure of the blood clot. It is exciting to see God at work in a life that the doctors had held out little hope for! All the praise goes to Him!

Jack just got released from the hospital. He is able to be at home rather than having to live in a rehab center. His doctors got to where they would walk in the room and just shake their heads at this miracle child.
He has a long ways to go, but there are some very encouraging signs - being able to come home, the latest scans continue to show improvement, and he can perform cognitively (for example, he can work puzzles). He can eat, and he can walk with assistance. His eyelid is still paralyzed. He has to have it taped open for several hours a day. He gets exhausted easily and has sensitivities to sounds, etc. He has a lot of rehab ahead of him, but the therapists are very hopeful. God has truly been at work healing this child whom the doctors had given up all hope for. Thanks so much for your prayers! I am sure that the family will appreciate continued prayers. While the critical time seems to be behind us, yet the days ahead will still hold many difficulties and adjustments. Thanks again for your interest and prayers!
