Question Is this graphic a religious symbol?

We have a mystery here. I wonder if anyone here recognizes this symbol
that was drawn on our car Easter morning?

When I left for work, it was still early, and there were smallish footprints around the car too (not big male boots, and not children's size).

We live in a remote spot, not many people around that early on a dead end
street no less.

My husband thinks it is two chalices?

I passed 2 parked cars up the way on my way out, and no writing appeared on them. (most people have garages ...we do not). We do not have alot of kids in our area...it is mostly older folks.

Any ideas?

I should add....both homes on either side of us are empty right now. That leaves 2 homes occupied ahead of the car, and one behind.
There are people however, on the next blocks (someone taking a walk?)

It looks a bit like chalices or even wine glasses.

Maybe someone was feeling artistic?? and spiritual?

hmnnnn,
only thing I can think of is the Two of Cups in Tarot.
Basically meaning love and partnership amongst equals "spiritual union, caring, compassion and harmony"

It does look like two chalices. Other than that, I have no suggestions. Never seen that before.

I was just reading about Communion and they mentioned that if Communion is going to be given 2 by 2, then they will use 2 chalices. If it's going to be given one at a time, one chalice will be used. There was also mention of Luke 22. I'm sure some of the others will know exactly what the symbol means. I'm guessing it's a Christian symbol because it was Easter.

very strange mrsd. i puled out my theologian books on symbols. couldn't find anything that looked like that.

maybe it just means cheers to you and your husband?

Thumbs up hmmmm.

Thanks all....

Lara... I just searched "the two of cups" and found this:

http://www.angelpaths.com/cups/cups2.html

Looks very much like the graffiti. Thanks for the suggestion.

In the past we used to know our neighbors well. But our area is in huge flux....the skyrocketing property taxes, and even hitting us now, and we are going to have to move.... soon. Just got bad news a couple of weeks ago!

There have been so many changes....and there are so many homes now trying to sell..and failing.

The neighbors at the end of the street, walk their dog every day. We know them a bit, but not intimately. We did find their visiting daughter's wallet in the street months ago and returned it to them (she looks like her mother)..but I don't think they are Christian by their name.

Because of security issues, my husband's job, and my job as well with desirable substances... I am always alert to anything that might be considered a problem. I have to confess I don't know any of the new people who have moved in. Some homes here have had 8 turn overs since we moved into this family home in 1970. All of my long time friends have left. Given this fact, I was concerned.

The Two of Cups is a very good possiblity... rather odd ...but believable. Thanks so much.

The only other possibility to me was a "gaming" avatar. I know nothing about computer/video games...that is a whole other culture!

Hi mrsd,
I'm really sorry to hear you might need to be moving. Moving is such a pain, especially after so long. wow. Don't go doing yourself any injuries there lifting things. I'll bet Curious is sick of all the moving business by now. I'm the Queen of moving. Moved so many times since I divorced. Still have some of my precious things in boxes. Always feel as if I've never settled... strange feeling really. Anyway, I really hope that you're able to find a suitable place if you do move. It's getting harder and harder these days.

I checked on some computer symbols as well, but couldn't find anything quite the same as that one. I figured though, because of the timing that it would either be a pagan symbol or a Christian symbol or maybe even an astrological sign of some sort considering the time of year and what position the stars are in up there. Aquarius is a water carrier for example. Anyway, it was interesting looking it all up. I woke up at 4am so I had something interesting to do. LOL

Red face Thanks so much, Lara...

for helping me out with this.

We have such old stuff... I am thinking just throw it all out and start over!

Save my art work, some books (donate others) etc. Some of the things we inherited when my husband's grandfather died. He was a packrat(sorry) and his stuff was beyond old! This house is on 1/2 acre in prime location. My gardens I will miss most of all. Maybe I can dig some of my babies up and relocate.
This house will be torn down. And two new mansions (obscene castles) will go up in their place since we have 2 lots. Those poor souls will start at $30,000/yr taxes minimum. Ours are not that high yet...but getting there.

My retirement dream is to move to the country, and have less noise, dirt, snarky people, and have some animals--guinea hens, a dog maybe etc.
Don't worry, I am not going to carry much, except to the trash! We have been rather old farts about it all...now that is going to change.

I'll be removing this post tomorrow... BTW ...too personal.

Default The things you learn!

I learned a lot considering how early it was and the fact I'm not religious. lol Mind boggling stuff.

When I was looking at info. about using 2 chalices I found so much, ancient and modern. I also just found a document mentioned in many Roman Catholic sites regarding Communion where a Cardinal called Joseph Ratzinger, gives special permission for the use of gluten free wafers and also of mustum, which I think is grape juice, instead of wine. That was in 1994. Apparently they sometimes use 2 chalices ... one with wine and one with grape juice. That Cardinal of course went on to be Pope Benedict XVI.

http://www.adoremus.org/CDF_Lowgluten-mustum94.html

I. Concerning permission to use low-gluten altar breads:

A. This may be granted by ordinaries to priests and laypersons affected by celiac disease, after presentation of a medical certificate.

B. Conditions for the validity of the matter:

1) Special hosts "quibus glutinum ablatum est" [that are gluten-free] are invalid matter for the celebration of the Eucharist.

2) Low-gluten hosts are valid matter, provided that they contain the amount of gluten sufficient to obtain the confection of bread, that there is no addition of foreign materials and that the procedure for making such hosts is not such as to alter the nature of the substance of the bread.

II. Concerning permission to use mustum:

A. The preferred solution continues to be communion per intinctionem [Communion by intinction], or in concelebration under the species of bread alone.

B. Nevertheless, the permission to use mustum can be granted by ordinaries to priests affected by alcoholism or other conditions which prevent the ingestion of even the smallest quantity of alcohol, after presentation of a medical certificate.

C. By "mustum" is understood fresh juice from grapes or juice preserved by suspending its fermentation (by means of freezing or other methods which do not alter its nature).

D. In general, those who have received permission to use mustum are prohibited from presiding at concelebrated Masses. There may be some exceptions however: in the case of a bishop or superior general; or, with prior approval of the ordinary, at the celebration of the anniversary of priestly ordination or other similar occasions. In these cases the one who presides is to communicate under both the species of bread and that of mustum, while for the other concelebrants a chalice shall be provided in which normal wine is to be consecrated.

E. In the very rare instances of laypersons requesting this permission, recourse must be made to the Holy See.
