I believe God knows our hearts - and He knows what we need and what we want.

Anytime you talk to God you're praying (I believe). I don't think He cares about "proper form" or the right words. Just speak from your heart. . . He will hear you.

When you talk to God He doesn't want to hear the same prayer over and over. God doesn't want to hear memorized prayers that someone else wrote. He wants to hear your prayers coming in your own words and coming straight from your very own heart. You need to talk to God as if He were your very best friend, because He is. Your prayers should come from your heart and should be a conversation between you and God. It should be as if your prayers are getting ready to burst out of you and you can hardly wait to talk to God.

Your prayers have to be from deep within your heart, anything else is meaningless.

That helps me to see why tears flow down my face lately when I am praying....

Thank you for helping me to understand....

I agree with Me BP. I talk to God just like I would my best friend. I share my worries, ask for guidance, and most of all Thank him. I don't have a time or ritual to talk to god. It just comes naturally many times during my day. He is a great comfort to me.
