hello! just wanted to introduce myself. i got a medtronic stimulator in dec 2007. in oct 2010 i got a new one. i got the rechargeable this time. i've had chronic shoulder pain for the last 14 years and finally got a thoracic outlet syndrome diagnosis last week. i was actually meeting w/ the surgeon about scheduling a pain pump implant when he gave me the initial diagnosis. i was that close to having both, which would have been really weird. now, i'm actually looking at surgery which could potentially cure me (trying not to get my hopes up though). i'm pretty sure i'll never go the pain pump route at this point. who knows though.

just thought i'd stop by and say hi. i'm also curious if any of you have a scs or pain pump for thoracic outlet syndrome? i'll do some searching too.

I'm presently waiting for a SCS trial ... I was initially told April early May this year and am now on countdown.

Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself - and I see you've found the TOS forum. I just love this place! The downside is that it is 'pain' that brings us all together.....but the UPside is that it's a wonderful discovery to find out we aren't 'alone' in our battles.
I come from a small community and NObody seems to comprehend this horrid pain battle I've been fighting......geeze, and you've been going at this for 14 years! I'm on year 7 i think........

I'm happy for you that you finally landed on a diagnosis (that sounds wierd to say ..... to be 'happy' for TOS but you know what I mean)
I was first told I had 'Fibromyalgia' also (same as what you shared over on the TOS forum)......but I knew that couldn't be it.
My ordeal is with my lower limbs.

When are you going to have your surgery? That would be fantastic if it would help you get your life back! Meanwhile, it sounds as tho you've fared pretty well with the SCS.
Please stick around! Your input will be great - and you'll meet lots of us with many different stories on how we ended up with these little 'wonder buzzers'
I need to learn more about TOS - most of my issues are with lumbar and legs.... There are quite a few here who have cervical SCS's......

Rrae - I'm told we'll schedule the surgery on the 24th. I cannot wait!!! right now every day is a battle

Saffy - i hope the stim works for you like it does for so many. I was lucky and got the trial really quickly, as soon as insurance cleared it. the trial was great!!!! hardest part was the time between after the trial and the permanent implant (oct 10 - dec 10th). i still remember the dates and it was 3.5 years ago.

i'll definitely be around. i had never found a scs forum before. tons of info. i can sit and read for hours

Welcome VodKanockers!! Yup, gotta tell you that is one hum dinger of a handle there. You wouldn't be a truckdriver would you? Anyway, we do welcome you although the DX you have is new to those of us posting. You will do all of us and those who follow you much good by educating us on your situation and process, and you can count on our support all of the way through this scenario! Yup!

my handle comes from an episode of 2 1/2 men. for some reason that episode made me laugh more than any other. couldn't think of anything else.
